Arrival Story:
I was working at the computer doing a paper for my M.Div studies late one night in Manila. A ginger and white kitten walked through the open door and curled up by my feet and slept. When I got up to go to bed, the kitten followed me and insisted on sleeping with me. I decided to call him Kaffe. After graduating, I had to retunr to the States. Leaving Kaffe was NOT an option; so Kaffe came with me on the flight to Los Angeles as "accompanied baggage."

Before I had Kaffe neutered, he disappeared for 10 days. Usually, when he went looking for females, he'd be gone for 24 hrs and come back for food. But when he was gone 10 days, I thought I'd never see him again. Anyway, the 10th day happened to be a Sunday and I went to my local church. At the altar call, one of the elders asked me what I wanted to pray for. With tears streaming down my cheeks, I said, "I want to ask God to take care of Kaffe wherever he is." The elder began to pray. During the prayer, I realized that the elder was praying for Kaffe as if Kaffe was a human - I forgot to tell him that Kaffe was a cat! Anyway, when I got home from church that day and was opening my front door, I thought I could hear this "meow, meow." I rushed inside the house and the meowing seems to come from outside my bedroom window. I looked. Sure enought, there was Kaffe - all thin and bedraggled-looking. He couldn't use his hind legs and was crawling. I fed him, washed him and rushed him to the vet. X-rays showed no fractures. Vet thought that Kaffe may never walk the same again. But I refused to give up. I devised my own "therapy sessions" aimed at building up the strength back into his hind legs. In a week, he was standing. In two weeks, he was walking. In three weeks, he was running and after four weeks, he could jump. Now, he is the very picture of health. I call him my "Miracle Cat."
