Arrival Story:
Toulouse started out as a feral kitten, and was rescued and then fostered by a volunteer at the Good Mews cat shelter. He had eye problems, so he had to go through surgery while being fostered. All of his siblings were adopted. At eight months of age, he was still in the kitten room of the shelter... he had a crooked nose, he was very shy, and I don't think he got much attention on adoption days compared to the younger, bolder kittens. He attracted my attention the first day I visited the shelter, but smacked my hand when I went to pet him. I wasn't sure about him, but on our second visit, my husband convinced me to give Toulouse (then named Onyx) a chance. We adopted him, and another kitten, Satine (then Aurora). Toulouse spent several days hiding under a table and growling at everyone, and even after he came out, he wouldn't let us touch him for weeks. He has since warmed up to us a lot, and has become a very sweet kitty, in his own grumpy way.

Bio:
Toulouse still hisses at us sometimes, and he remains suspicious of people. But, in spite of this big attitude, he's actually the best behaved of the cats... he's very tidy, and he doesn't fuss about nail-clipping. As part of our agreement with the shelter, all of our cats are indoors only. Still, Toulouse longs for the great outdoors. He once escaped the house and was on the loose for ten days, until we managed to lure him back inside. He seemed to enjoy his little vacation, and I think he'd do it again, given the opportunity.
