An update on my eye...

Well, if you look at my picture above, you can see I am still not doing really well with my right eye. This picture was taken right after I had my eye drops put in, so it looks like I have tears there. The tears are only from the drops though. My eyelid stays open all the time now, and the eye itself is looking a little bit better every day. Mommy and Daddy don't know if I can see out that eye, and since they don't speak Meow, I can't tell them.

Despite my eye, I am still PLENTY playful and as obnoxious as my brothers and sisters. I can race around our room and jump on and off things, and I can even climb my human mommy's leg just as well as the others!!

My kitty mommy is still nursing us pretty regularly, even though we are almost 8 weeks old and eating canned food. The vet says it is fine since we are still so small! WAIT A MINUTE!! I am a BIG BOY now!! Why just today I weighed in at 18.6 ounces!! In my world, I am HUGE!!! Okay, okay, so the vet says we are tiny....whay does HE know anyway!?

I'm a big boy, AND I am FAMOUS now!!

Heeheehee!! How much excitement can a little guy like ME take!? This is really cool!! We found out about it late today because Mommy and Daddy were at the vet with my brother, Diego, all day!! WOW!! Okay, okay, okay!! I have to go run laps around the room with my brothers and sisters to calm down!! Thanks Catster!!

I REALLY AM a BIG boy now!!

This morning when Mommy and Daddy woke up, they were pleased to find me running around in our room and playing rowdily with my brothers and sisters! Daddy weighed me and I weigh......16.4 ounces!! YEP, you read that right!! I FINALLY weigh OVER 1 pound!! Mommy and Daddy were SO excited about that, that Mommy immediately made me type this to you to share my victory over the herpes! I am getting bigger and stronger every day!!

Both of my eyes were open!!

YEP, this morning when Mommy and Daddy came in to feed us and give me my medicine, BOTH of my eyes were open!! My right eye may not look so great, but it WAS open!! This is a MAJOR milestone for that eye, and hopefully it might mean I won't lose it!

Oh by the way, today I weighed in at 433 grams, or 15.3 ounces! I am getting really, really big!!

ALMOST to a pound!!

Today I weighed in at a whopping 406 grams or 14.3 ounces!! WOOOHOOO!!! I am getting big fast now!! I can't wait to tell you I weigh a pound!! It maybe in the next 2 days!! Won't THAT be grand!!

Again, thanks for the prayers and thoughts and emails!! They are WORKING!!!

I am FINALLY getting BIG!!

Today I weighed in at 352 grams, or 12.4 ounces! I may not be so big for a 6 and 1/2 week old kitten, but for me I am HUGE!! I went through a period when I wasn't gaining, then I started losing! I was REALLY sick, and everything was iffy. My Left eye now looks almost normal. My right eye, while still very infected is showing VAST improvements! It now stays open most of the time! I may not end up losing my right eye after all!! I am now playing and climbing like my brothers and sisters, and I am eating canned food! In FACT, I was the FIRST of ALL six of us to EAT the canned food!! My human mommy and daddy are VERY proud of that fact!! They say it shows I am brilliant kitty cat, even though I am very small!!

Again, thanks for the prayers thoughts and kind emails from everyone!! They were very encouraging for all of us!!

Well, my eyes are not doing so well....

When we all arrived at our current foster home, we all had what appeared to be a basic non-threatening upper respiratory infection. Here we are 4 weeks later, and we are just beginning to show signs of improvement! Some of my brothers, and both of my sisters have pretty much licked the initial infection, but Stengal and I are still working on it.

About 2 weeks ago the vet told my foster family that we have feline herpes, which contracted from our mom during birth. We were put on stronger antibiotics and sent home.

Last week we were put on our last option for antibiotics, and sent home. The vet said he was very worried about my left eye, and I may end up losing it. Well, we have been on the newest antibiotics for a week now, and my right eye is to the point it will open on its own. My left eye however shows no improvement. Mommy called the vet this morning and they told her to wait until Friday.

We are hoping that by Friday there is a miracle change in my eye! Any improvement would be good! None of us know quite what happens when a cat loses an eye! Mommy and Daddy are scared, I think more than ME!! I am getting around just fine, but they worry about me!

I am at least finally starting to put on weight and grow! I was the first of all 6 of us kittens to discover FOOD!! It is a good thing too! Mommy's tummy was getting AWFULLY crowded at meal times!! Mommy still allows us to nurse whenever though, she knows we still need her very much, even at 6 weeks old! Today was the first time that Daddy has weighed us and we were ALL up in weight!! My weight today is 313 grams!! WOOOHOOO!!! I am a big boy....almost!!

My new name!

I am no longer called Grey Kitty! After today, I will be known a ZANE!! Mommy says it should probably be Zane the Grey, but I like just Zane better!!

My sister, Tortie Kitty, is the only one of the 6 of us without a name! HELP!!
