sweetest big teddy-bear of a cat, gentle giant
I bought this guy from a breeder in Montana, sight unseen (except for bad photographs) before there were digital cameras. His breed has a reputation for being calm, loving, devoted, quiet and gentle. AKA the French dog in a cat's body. So true.....his personality was like a big old Labrador. Unflappable, a friend to all. Just what I needed at the time. He was such a comfort to me in hard times. He would've loved Mira. My broken heart is slowly mending with her help.
I saw a big and beautiful Chartreux at a cat show. I didn't know anything about this "rather unheard of" breed. A few call to Calif. breeders, and I realized I could not pay $800-$1000 for this kind of a cat. Besides, I believed in rescues or the humane society. Anyhow, I could afford, maybe $200....so I guessed that I was out-of-luck. Then, one day, I open the classified section of the local paper, and I see a lady advertising her kitten, long-distance, from Montana! Her husband was commuting weekly, from Montana, to the San Francisco Bay area. She was asking $195. I called her, and told her what I was looking for in a kitty, and she said "yes, yes, yes" to all my requests. So I bought him.....on what seemed like "a whim". He was all that I was seeking, as she promised, and more. If you believe in wishes coming true......then it would seem that he was magically meant to be my kitty.
