Arrival Story:
Cablegirl was a unique kitty. Just was brought to our shed by her mother w/the other litter of kittens. She was the runt. She was so ugly, I thought she was the most beautiful cat in the world. At 6 weeks one of her litter mates jumped and a board hit Cablegirl on the neck. I thought she was dead. She laid there...I kept praying that she would be ok. Because my voice was familiar she let me pick her limp body up. I put her in a wicker laundry basket with towels. I carried her around in my lap everywhere I went. I am in a wheelchair, so where ever I went, she went. I gave her small drops of water and sugar. Watched and prayed. I had her basket at my bedside as I went to bed for the night. I am on a ventilator so I put her where I could see her thru my vent tubes. She slept...I watched her barely breathing. I finally fell asleep for a few hours. Around 6 a.m. I woke up to her kind of moving. I picked her up and put her under the covers with me. I slept some more. She lay next to the tubes that were giving me air. I think the sound was soothing to both her and myself. I woke up later to her little head popping up and wobbly. But she was alive and I knew she was a survivor like myself. She was a tiny cat. She weighed about 6 lbs. but she was tough. All the other cats in the house were sure not to get in her way. She was mighty. I loved her so. She used to ride on the back of the ventilator on my wheelchair. We were buddies. We lost Cablegirl on June 2, 2007. My heart will never be the same. She is etched in my being forever. I loved her so much. The world let us be blessed with her for 11 years. I love you Cablegirl...R.I.P.

This has been a tough summer without my Cablegirl. I loved her so..she is always in my heart.
I have been really depressed this summer. She was the kitty I loved..so much. She would sit on the back of my wheelchair on my ventilator.

I hope she is having fun at the bridge.
