Arrival Story: In 1996, when we purchased some property for our company, she was there already, together with Struppy and little Mask, and other kitties. Overflow from the adjacent trailerpark and homeless.
Well, so I started feeding them and had about 12 cats fixed and this was the beginning of the cat sanctuary, and she was one of the founding members.

Bio: Checkie was a character. Except when she got spayed, she never needed a vet ( I give them their shots myself ). My husband would joke and call her Felis Robusta. She ruled the guys with an iron paw, and didn't take any BS from any cat.
Everybody in the company loved her as she would greet them by the entrance in the morning. Until about 4 or 5 years ago, I couldn't even touch her, all my other half ferals came around a lot faster. But once she gave in to her softer side, she loved to be petted. In winter 2006/07 we noticed that her hearing was pretty bad, and sometimes she seemed confused and wouldn't recognize the ones who loved her most. She might have developed kitty Alzheimer's, and I had a hunch she would not live very much longer. She also started to have recurring sniffles, so I put her on Lysine. To our dismay, Checkie started crossing the bad road in the last few weeks, to visit Emilio. Another reason, to set up the 1,000 sqft cat enclosure which we had planned. 4 weeks before it would be finished, Checkie got hit by a car and left us for the bridge on 6/25/2007.
I am so sorry, girlfriend.
