   Leave a treat for Little

Little is her nickname. Her given name is Akikwa, but Little suits her much better. We call her that because, as a dog, she's so darn Little.

Arrival Story:
I saw two tiny kittens wobbling across the street from the woods one evening as I was leaving work. As I drove home that night I saw what must have been their mother. She'd been hit by a car not far from where I found her two babies. I kept them at work in a box for two days until I could convince my partner that I had to bring them home so that our neighbors could see them (sneaky!). They took the orange tabby male and I just had to keep Little until I found her a good home. She was so small that she had to be fed baby formula from a bottle. As soon as my partner fed her like that, it was all over. She was home.

When Little came to live with us the big cats (Sarah, Bwana & Hazel) wanted nothing to do with a tiny ball of fuzz. They wouldn't give her the time of day. But the dogs...oh, the dogs adored her! They played with her and ate with her and slept with her. Consequently, she grew up thinking she was a dog. She would even hang out in the dog house with them! Of course, she eventually grew into her catness, and is now all cat. But she is friend to all dogs.
