indoors Arrival Story: I adopted Aloysius in November of 2006.
Aloysius has diabetes and is FIV+. He was abandoned at the shelter in June of 2003, and diagnosed with diabetes that September. Everyone adored this silly cuddly little boy, but few would consider taking him home because of his FIV+ status and diabetes. I'm thrilled that I was able to adopt him, he's a real joy and blessing in my life.
Aloysius's diabetes was poorly controlled at the shelter - he was on doses of up to 9 units insulin twice daily! He went into insulin shock in October, and his dose was reduced. I put him on an all low-carbohydrate canned and raw diet, and his insulin needs decreased dramatically. He currently gets around 1 to 2 units insulin twice daily on Dr. Hodgkins' protocol, and his blood sugar levels are much improved.
He is a silly boy. He climbs me like a tree, enjoys cuddling on my lap, and loves to play. He adores the other cats, and loves to wrestle with Ralph and Studley. Bio: I lost Louie to cancer in June 2009.
