Arrival Story: A cat that I had died of leukemia at a very young age. I had only had him for 2 weeks. I wanted another cat. We went to the SPCA and I picked out Casper. He was just so beautiful and small.
Bio: Casper unfortunately is no longer with us. He passed away 4 years ago from diabetes complications. Casper was such a small kitten when we got him. We lived in a small town but soon after moved to a big city. He never liked staying inside much, he much preferred to be outside. One day I got a call from the SPCA saying that they had my cat because it had been trapped in a cat trap outside of where I live. I went to the SPCA to bail my poor Casper out of "Jail" LOL. When the woman at the SPCA went to get him she came back to me and told me that I would have to come to get him as he would not let anyone else near him. He was very mad. I went into the back and he crawled right out into my arms ....he was very happy to see me. Casper got sick one day. We did not know what was wrong with him. He started peeing in the tub and there was blood in it. We took him to the vet and it turned out that he had Urinary tract disorder.....crystals would form in his urinary tract and totally block him from urinating. He was put on a catheter and cleaned out and then put on a special food that did not form these crystals. He was very well after that until we moved again. We moved to a smaller town and he decided to check out the whole town. He disappeared for 3 weeks and in that time we had thought he was never coming home. He showed up on the doorstep on day but was very sick again. He had not been getting the proper food and crystals had formed again. Off to the vet and he was fine again. We got another kitten after we moved his name was Sam. Casper didn't really care for this new cat....actually Casper was spoiled rotten and didn't care for a lot of our other animals LOL. They got along after awhile though. When Casper was 10 years old he got sick again. This time it was different. We took him to the vet again. They did some tests and found out that Casper had diabetes. He was put on insulin injections 2 times a day. The injections did not seem to be working and he was losing weight very quickly. The vet did more tests and then upped his injections to 3 times a day. It seemed to be working. We went on holidays and left our cats in the care of some friends who were to give Casper his daily shots. One day Casper did not come home to get his food or shots. We got home the next day and found him very sick at the edge of our yard. He had not gotten his shots for a couple days and was very sick. He waited until we got home to say "goodbye" and then passed away in our arms. It was a very sad day for us. I am crying as I write this and it has been 4 years already. He is in a better place now and not in pain. He was 11 years old when he went to the rainbow bridge. He is still dearly missed.
