Arrival Story: After our Beloved Lucky (an orange tabby passed 9/23/01 ) after 16 wonderful years, we were devastated. This was only two weeks after 9/11 so we were in morning for all of those who lost their lives in NY and Washington, and on the field in PA... We then were dealing with the loss of our long time friend Lucky. After a few months ( of crying and crying) we went to the shelter and found a little black kitten, aged 4 months, who was turned in for being "too frisky". Well Merlin is still frisky and a delight... we are so glad we chose him... We wanted to get an older cat but were told that the babies do better with dogs (and we had 5)... So Merlin came to live with us and we are very happy with him.... He now has a baby brother.... "Kitt" who is polydactyl... not only has extra toes but two extra paws....
Bio: The day after we got Merlin he became very gravely ill... he had a feline URI... which we found out all of the cats/kittens in the rescue that week had the same illness. He also had already been neutured too. We took him to our vet and it took heavy duty antibiotics and cold remedies and nasal bulb syringe to get him well, then he needed to be reneutured cause the job wasn't done right the first time. So about $500.00 later our kitten was healthy. I am going to put Merlin at 7 lives left. In order to support all of my furbabies & their medicines I make dog bone/cat paw Christmas ornaments...
