Kitty Complexion:

Quick Bio:
-mixed breed-cat rescue

April 10th 2004

Being cuddled and getting people kisses. Also, eating and playing and belly rubs. When he is receiving affection, he kneads (in a very enthusiastic manner).

He is a happy little cuddle-bug for the most part, but he doesn't appreciate it if you do not share your milk with him.

Favorite Toy:
He loves jingle-bell balls, but anything he can chase is fine with him.

Favorite Nap Spot:
Winky loves to nap with his older "sister," Punkin, and he especially loves Tater, so he naps with her a lot, too.

Favorite Food:
He eats Nurto Natural Indoor Cat Formula kibble, and occasionally some Bil-Jac kitty treats. And he drives me nuts trying to get milk out of my glass.

He purrs constantly! He kneads so much that I call him "the eternal optimist" -- he really seems to believe that if he kneads well enough, milk will start flowing from somewhere!

Arrival Story:
Winky's feline momma is Kwdlu, a pregnant stray we befriended in our backyard. He was born on 4/10/04. Kwdlu led me right to her babies, and I was the first human ever to see and touch them. Winky won us over quickly. One of his eyes did not open at first and that's why we named him Winky -- the eye did eventually open and he has very large, round eyes (larger than any of his brothers and sisters). Winky loves attention and has an almost constant look of surprise on his face (we tease him about being a little slow). He is a good sport, though. He is even more affectionate since he was neutered and he loves to cuddle more than anything else. (And to think, I had foolishly assumed that female cats made better pets ... I love my girls, but I really love boys and I would have missed out if Kwdlu hadn't given birth to some!)

Winky especially enjoys playing with Punkin. They chase and wrassle each other and it is hilarious to watch, since Punkin is fatter, taller, larger and stronger than Winky, yet she allows him to take her down sometimes. And he follows her -- and me --everywhere! Don't forget -- ALWAYS spay or neuter your pets; Declawing is MUTILATION; DON'T breed or buy while homeless animals die!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Yesterday was my birthday! I am a whole year old now -- my brother is, too. We get to share our special day. Momma said it didn't seem like a whole year since the day she brought us inside to live. Anyway, Momma and Daddy sang to us and bounced us around and gave us lots of kisses -- also, we got to have a milk treat, so that was nice.

Then Momma and Daddy worked outside and planted some herbs. They told me not to worry -- they didn't forget the catnip.

Wee! I'm a big boy now!

Either I am a Bad Kitty-Boy, or Momma is Mean!

Today was not a good day. Momma said I was bad, but I think she is just mean. Even though Momma played with me and gave me kibbles, I kept annoying her when she was trying to read and then later, when she was cleaning. Every time she got anywhere near my dish, I whined very loudly and begged (well, it had been almost an hour since I had eaten!), and I stayed right underfoot the whole time and kept trying to get in the sink when she was washing dishes. Then, she sat down to have some milk, and I crawled all over her to get some, and she had to keep moving the glass away from me. She said I was annoying, and that even though I am the sweetest, I am also the baddest. I don't think that was a compliment, either. But then I got really excited and accidentally knocked her glass over! Of course, then milk spilled all over the floor. I was happy about that, because I thought I would get to help myself to some milk then -- but Momma is fast, and she always seems to know the stuff I am thinking about doing. She put me in the bathroom and shut the door while she mopped up the milk. I cried and begged and wailed and yelled and screamed at her from the bathroom, but she ignored me and made me stay in, even after all the milk was gone! Finally, I decided to go to sleep, and Mean Momma let me out after a while. Then she gave me a big lecture about how I eat the equivalent of a steak dinner every day, and I have lots of toys and treats and a warm place to live and a big people bed to sleep in and that I should be a grateful little good boy. And she said something about my "spoiled little paws" and how they had never even "touched the ground." I didn't understand that, but she said that if I didn't start being a good kitty-boy again, she'd put me out with the trash! But then she laughed and kissed me and scratched my ears and played with me some more.

Ooh, but did you catch that? She said if I was bad, she'd let me go outside! I would love to explore outside! Gotta go -- Momma is trying to eat a cheese-and-crackers snack, and I want some!

I Knead, Therefore I Am.

It sure is cold outside! I'm glad I live in the warm house. We've had some visitors lately. I get a little bashful when people come over, but not for long. I like to hear them talk about how pretty I am, so I only hide for a few minutes. Then I come out and charm them by purring and being adorable.

Momma has been sick. She keeps getting really bad sore throats. Sometimes I cuddle her and knead her when she naps, and then I flop down under the covers with her. Punkin takes care of her, too. I hope it helps. She's a little better now, though, so I don't have to try so hard to be good! Hee! Mostly I am a good boy, but whenever Momma is drinking milk, I crawl all over her to get some and I annoy her until she gives me a little sip. Of course, that doesn't satisfy me -- I want a whole bowl of it to myself, but all she ever gives me is a little sip here and there.

My canine momma, Tater-Momma, is so sweet to me. I sleep with my human momma, but when Tater comes out of her crate in the mornings, she and I play tag and then cuddle. I love to cuddle with Tater-Momma -- she is soft and warm and I like to knead on her belly. I knead everybody, but no milk comes out. I will keep trying, though.

I have so many mommas. I have only one daddy. Daddy loves to play with me. I knead all over him, too, just in case.

Well, better go -- this writing thing is cutting into my nap time. Tater is saving me a spot on the couch, so I better go claim it bef0re my brother does!
