Arrival Story:
I wanted to get a boy cat, because I heard that boy cats get along better with situated female felines. I was 15. working as a grocery bagger at the local natural food store, giving Robert Redford sacks for 2 bags of chips and there was this old man, with a bag full of kittens, right outside. I said, "i want a boy kitty." His response: "This guy is the biggest of the litter..." while raising its tail to show off the balls. So I took the cat home, named it toby, endured my father's threats to send it to the pound. And after a couple weeks of waiting for that cremaster, that drop, the lifting of the tail... It's a GIRL. A big girl. She ended up growing growing. And being an loving, licking, grooming, fighting cmpanion to my little calico kitty.

A year ago she was flipped around and impailed and almost killed by two dogs who came into our walled yard. We found her under a bush (the neighbour chased the dogs off hours before) moaning. We took her to the emergency vet and to her own repeatedly... and after 2k of vet bills, and hand feeding her and, poor girl, forcing those bubble gum tasting antibiotics down her throat (why don't thay make them fish flavoured???) she repaired herself. She might hobble a little, but it's probably her weight, and she still jumps on the couch and the bed. And is more loving and purry and drooly than ever. I love my toby.
