Quick Bio:

May 17th 1994

Contorting my head over human toes for deep ear-scratches; trick-or-treating; Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I'm Spike).

The alarm clock, coffee bean grinder, paper shredder, men w/deep voices, and esp. thunder. Mom recently bought a remote control mouse that annoys the heck out of me, but it entertains her for hours.

Favorite Toy:
Twist ties, Q-Tips, plastic rings from gallon milk jugs, cardboard toilet paper tubes, and curling ribbon. Meanwhile, there are, oh, 'bout $300 worth of cat toys abandoned in a basket. (And still Mom bought the $10 remote control mouse. Dork.)

Favorite Nap Spot:
On anyone's lap, except in the summer when I'll stare at you until you cover your nasty bare legs with a pillow, thank you very much. (Add bare human flesh to pet-peeves. Except bare toes, I love those.)

Favorite Food:
Iams, Aquari-Yums, licking the cereal bowl, houseplants, rubberbands, and spitchcock. Just kidding. Never had spitchcock. I just like the word.

I'll shake for a treat. But not with the wholehearted, desperate enthusiasm of a dog, heavens no. Mine is more of a casual shake, a noncommittal wave, if you will. It's not much, but it's feline fervor at its utmost. And fully deserving of an Aquari-Yum.

Arrival Story:
One day, as the story goes, Mom & the girls were sobbing like babies after giving away a doggy who didn't fit well with the family (naturally). So, Dad took them to the mall for coney dogs to cheer them up. (Dogs! Duh.) Barely having dried their tears, the ladies insisted on stopping in at the pet store where they wept for all the poor doggies in cages. Then they saw 5 or 6 kittens who needed homes, and the gals fell in love with the striped one--me! They just had to have me. I was free... for $99 (covered shots & neutering, owie). They think it was a coincidence, but I know it was fate. Twelve years later, and I'm still cheering them up. ::breaks in to song:: I'm just too good to be true; can't take your eyes off of me; I'm like heaven to touch; you want to hold me so much...

The cardboard house in the photos was part of the littlest girl's Halloween costume (she was the Wicked Witch of the East). I adored that house and took up residence immediately, frequently mourning for the WWofE. I side with the witches, and insist that Dorothy did indeed kill the WWofE, as she herself admits in response to the WW of the West's interrogation: "Who killed my sister? Was it you?" "No!" Dorothy claims, "I didn't mean to! It was an accident!" Accident my paw! I have no sympathy for the little girl from Kansas. I am now studying Wicca in hopes of bringing justice to the witchy realm. Mom, on the other hand, is swaying me toward the priesthood, as inspired by my feline friend, Sister Sparky Marie-Louise. It's not working. News Flash: I'm giving up Wicca in favor of becoming a Greek philosopher. En oida meowti ouden oida. Opa!

Kitty Miles Silverberg W. was 15 years old. He was perfectly fine, healthy, playful, apparently happy, showed no signs whatsoever of illness or trouble. One minute he was fine, the next, he darted across the room just a few feet, threw himself into the floor, writhed just a little, began gasping for air, and then died. That was on Halloween night. I'm still in shock. And so, so sad.

Thank you, Catster, for this wee space for me to display my Kitty Miles' photos and stories. I haven't been active on this site in a long time, but when I was, it was a lot of fun.

I'm not able to keep a regular diary, because Mom won't let me use the computer, something about fur in the keyboard. Sheesh! Yeah, like it's pleasant for me to find her nasty human hair in my water dish. Be that as it may, my Catster activity is limited to those few stolen moments when I can sneak a quick paw-pat on the computer unbeknownst to the human who feeds me. So, before I'm shooshed away...

I'd like to offer a great big thank you to all the kitties who've invited me to be their feline friend! I used to reply with a private message to each request, but, well... Mom, fur, keyboard... you know the story. Please know that I visit your Catster pages and thoroughly enjoy seeing your pics and reading all about you. May we all meet and play and share catnip in the sweet by-and-by.

Your Pal Always,
Kitty Miles
