Arrival Story:
I adopted Maggie & her sister, Lisa, at our local animal shelter. On the second day they were home we discovered they were quite ill and after finally catching them (no small feat as they were hidden under an old dresser in our basement) and taking them to the vet we discovered that they had a bad case of upper respiratory. They spent a couple days at the vet and ultimately made a full recovery but I know had I not adopted them odds are they would have been euthanized at the shelter. Maggie, the shyer of the two, spent the first few months in our home hiding and only coming out at night (our roomate at the time, an MBA student, was a night owl and he would report nightly "spottings"- flash of white here and there :-)

Bio:
Maggie endured *something* traumatic in the first few months of her life as she is quite timid and afraid of people. If we have company she will hide (when we go out of town my Mother house sits and she jokes that there is absolutely no evidence of us even having a white cat! In seven years of house-sitting she has not laid eyes on her once.) She will approach my husband and I for affection but it has to be on HER terms. We have had her for seven years and I still cannot pick her up (she panics and flees, often leaving you covered with scratches.) When she does decide she wants some lovin' she is almost manic about it and covers you with kisses with her very fast little sand paper tongue. She's a sweet little girl and I often wonder why she is so afraid (but then again, I probably don't want to know.)
