Arrival Story: Tara got to be 9 months old, and we were ready to get her a sibling. Her same breeder had 2 little boys from the same mom as Tara, about 8 weeks old. When I went to look at them, while one was sleeping on my lap, this third little guy showed up, about 11 weeks old, demanding attention. The breeder said that he was more of the wedge head Siamese (Tara is more of an applehead), and someone had a deposit on him, but backed out. He had developed a bit of a sneeze after his second round of kitty shots, given the day before. I gave her a deposit, and said I would choose from the three, but wasn't ready to take one home for a few weeks. But I was already in love with that third little guy. When my husband saw the pictures, he agreed and said we should get him right away, even though that meant traveling with both him and Tara to our mountain house for the weekend. I called the breeder, but she wouldn't let him go because he was still sneezing. She thought it would be about a week.
The moment we walked into the door on Memorial day, we called her. He was still sneezing, but she was willing to let us have him. None of her other cats had gotten sick, so it did just seem to be from his shots. We went right down. He was very loveable even that first night, although Tara was in a tiz. We took him to our vet, who didn't seem too concerned about his sneezing, he was perfectly healthy other than that. I scheduled his third round of kitty shots for the next week.
But the next week he was more congested and sneezing. No shots, instead he got a course of antibiotics. Vet was still not too concerned, and the antibiotics seems to be clearing up what ever secondary infection he developed. And Tara is just starting to like him.
