Hi! It’s me, Jack again. I promised I’d post an update on Pokey, and I am! :)

Pokey had his vet appointment yesterday. His vet said that his lungs sound like a washing machine because they are so full of fluid. The vet gave him a shot of a diuretic, Furosemide (the generic to Lasix), and a shot of an antibiotic. Pokey is back on Clavamox, and he’s also on the Furosemide for 15 days. He has such a severe case of pneumonia, that the vet was saying that if his breathing doesn’t get better, he’s going to have to hospitalize Pokey and put him on IVs to drain his lungs.

The vet also said that Pokey’s immune system is almost nonexistent, so its up to my Mom, Grandma and the vet to make the lil guy better. Pokey felt a little better after his vet appointment, and he ate some treats and let everyone kiss and hold him. Then he went under the headboard and didn’t come out until Mom dragged him out this morning to give him his medications. Mom’s worried, because the Furosemide should be making Pokey wee more, but he hasn’t even drank anything lately. We have until Friday for him to improve, or he’s going to have to be hospitalized. Mom is devastated. It all happened so quick (it happened about this time last year too, but Pokey didn’t go downhill so fast!).

Mom figures now when Pokey even gets a little cough, she’s taking him to the vet, whether or not he likes it…which he doesn’t, not one bit! But she doesn’t want him to get so sick again. It’s horrible; everyone around here is so worried about him! We need some serious purrs please! We want our bundle of head bonks and trouble to be back to normal!!! :)
