Mercy Me!

Not so bad!

We got my results from my long vet visit last weekend. Without getting too technical, all of my abnormal numbers got better, including my red blood cell count. The biggest improvement was that my high BUN went from 59 to 49, so it's still high but much better.

I really didn't need that B12 shot. One of the tests they ran was for IBD, even though my vet didn't think I had it, but now it's confirmed that I don't. And, I got a special thyroid test and that's normal too.

I have the sniffles but it's not too bad because I've been eating and drinking like normal and climbing and jumping and all that cat stuff. I also like the Lysine because I lick it off of Mom's fingers just like I do hairball gel.

Mom is going to continue to give me extra feedings, which I seem to like, to make sure I don't lose anymore weight. I think she would be happy if I gained a pound. Plus, we're getting that good boiled chicken breast. The challenge is to sneak me food when no other cat is around!

I'll also continue getting the Pepcid and my vet thinks I'm showing signs of needing a teeth cleaning but Mom doesn't want me to have it done just yet because even the vet said with my numbers I'm at a higher risk for being put under anesthesia. So we'll give it some time and see how it goes when I go for another recheck in another month or so.

In the meantime, Mom thinks she's going to start brushing my teeth! OMC...who does she think I am...Rocky Ann? Wish me luck!

Okay, now onto other stuff. We had to change our email address for Catster/Dogster for the second time because our provider was bouncing their notifications on comments, gifts, group posts, etc., so we didn't get them for a few days!

Since Dad started a new job a couple of months ago, he has a different work schedule so Mom has spent more time after work taking Quincy to the dog park. Of course she brings the camera, and if you've ever read my bio, you might remember that Mom found me in a tree just outside of the dog park, so tonight she took a picture of it so it'll stay on my page somewhere to remind me where I was found! I think it's more of an overgrown shrub myself, and one that has obviously been left unpruned!

Have a safe and Happy Halloween!

Love,
Mercy

We are so glad to hear the good news and you are doing better!!!

I need my teeth cleaned too and more the Vet says but I have to wait for a while, especially since my surgery and chemo...Mom is gong to take me to a Vet dentist that way I don't have to stay all day at the vet office and they use better quality gas than regular vets...Mom says she just feels more at ease taking me there, she took my sisfur there and she did great and recouped really fast....

Take care and make sure you eat, we don't want you to loose anymore weight.

Thanks, Queen Tallulah!

There's nothing like having your own vet tell you that you're at higher risk. Doesn't make us want to jump right into it.

Good luck to you. Quincy is doing chemo right now and doing very well so far.

Mercy

wow, the medical news is good, we hope you continue to improve. Brushing teeth, eh? Nope, not me. I may be willing to gnaw a raw bone or something, but no way is mum brushing MY teeth!

Hi HL, Vince, and Tigger!

I think Mom is better off buying me some of those dental chews. I used to eat them and it's been awhile since she's bought some.

The dog probably wouldn't let me gnaw a bone!

I'm sure I'll have a follow-up story to tell soon.

Mercy

I get my toofies brushed! The MRS. says it's more like a sucking of the toothbrush, but she tries anyway! I'm glad nothing bad is going on with you. Calvin always said a high bun is okay cause it means you're showing it off!

Hi KiKi and Newman,

We were just glad to hear things had not mysteriously gotten worse since I really hadn't been perscribed much of anything so far, so we'll hope my numbers keep improving and I can get my teeth cleaned which we think should also help.

Newman, I was sure you were going to say you suck your teeth clean on the MRS. arm, and I agree with Calvin's theory!

Don't get too spooked on Halloween!

Love,
Mercy

Great news Mercy! Hope your BUN continues to come down and that your weight goes up a bit! Mom would like to try brushing our teeth, do you use a kitty toothpaste or something? *clueless as usual - mol*

Happy Halloween!

We get our teeth brushed. It's not so bad. Grammy tries to brush our teeth once a month. Some of us she does more. Believe it or not my brother Zeeke is the best one. Grammy and even the Vet said that was a surprise. It takes Grammy most of the day if she does us all in one day. Remember that's 18 of us. It's a big job.MOL!
We are glad all your test came back good. The Lysine must be helping. Sometimes we get Lysine. Meowmy gives us the powdered one when she has it. You just sprinkle it on the food. And sometimes we get the gel.
We hope you all have a Safe and Happy Halloween.

Muppet, we will try the CET toothpaste. Yes, I'm sure I'll just sit there and let Mom do it. MOL She's going to get some of the CET dental chews too.

Kibbles, when we get our nails trimmed or our flea medicine, it's a task. I bet Grammy makes a list like my Mom does to make sure she didn't miss anyone!

Ashlye, I think Mom will be lucky if she gets one quick brush in. We will try..slowly! Rocky Ann uses a Q-tip.

I guess I'm still somewhat abnormal right now, but at least not worse!

Happy Halloween!

Mercy

I'm glad to hear that you are doing better! Mommy can't even hardly look at my toofies without me getting mad... I think she might lose a finger if she tried to brush them! MOL!

And I bet it IS a challenge to sneak food to you in that household! MOL!

I was found in a tree too! My furson and I were left on a wooded area by an isolated road, and I alerted my meowmy to us by standing on a branch and meowing as loud as I could!

Oops, sorry Mercy about the toothbrushing!! Mol!

Really, it is worth doing. Daddy watched Mommy brush my teeth today. I got back at him by grooming his hair. My teethers look good if I must say so myself.

The makeup qtips are so much easier than trying to get one of those little brushes in our mouth.

I'm so happy that all your numbers improved!! Now I have to go take a look at your famous tree :)

Love,
RA

Thanks, Colorado, Chef Rooster, Auntie Em, Chloe, and RA!

Mom says she will try this next weekend after she can get some toothpaste. Maybe she'll see if I wanna chew some qtips first to get me used to the idea. MOL

Mercy

Hi Mercy
I am relieved you don't have IBD (that was not fun!)
Brushing teeth? Oh, good luck with that. The world's most laid back
kitty (me) would not hear about it.
I hear gnawing on RAW chicken neck or wings would clean your teeth. But your mom should research that. Mine just get herself to give anything raw to the boys but even baby Milo is not happy about teeth brushing.*Sigh*
Keep getting better!
Love always
Wally

Mom tries to brush my teeth every day! We use the CET seafood flavor toothpaste. We also have the CET dental chews, but we try to swallow them whole and usually gag them back up-- so not too sure how much they help ;)

Hi Wally, Xena, and TT,

I am not receiving all my comment notifications again...hiss.

Wally...it's going to be "next" week's task for Mom. She's going to keep an eye out on me since I really don't have a diagnosis. Raw? Well, that just sounds...so...so...raw! MOL

Xena..thanks for being happy about my BUN! MOL

TT...whom I have the same hat as...MOL. Mom will make a trip to the vet's office to get the CET toothpaste and chews. Those chews are so expensive but I did use to get them and I liked them.

Love,
Mercy
