The Wizard of Oz

About a month ago, I asked the beautiful QUEEN OF DIAMONDS what theme they were going to be for Halloween this year because we were thinking of the Wizard of Oz theme. Now, if Mom wasn't on vacation at the time and had all that time on her hands, I really don't think she would have even considered doing any real theme!

After Mom saw that there were actually four Oz costumes for pets we could buy, she thought about what we had at home for the rest of the characters, and spent an hour going through our stuff to see what she could piece together. I guess we have lots of stuff!

Of course I had be Dorothy, and about my ruby red slippers, they're ceramic and were already hanging on the wall next to the words, There's No Place Like Home. Of course, I'm not actually wearing them which is why they didn't move along with me and I look like the Leaning Tower of Pisa in one of my photos!

Did you know this was the 70th Anniversary of The Wizard of Oz? We watched it on Netflix last weekend. Mom told Dad he needed to call us by each of our character names for the month and he thought she was nuts and told her he has enough trouble remembering the names of people he works with!

Quincy had his first chemo treatment today and he seems to be doing well. As they were leaving, Mom yelled out to us and told us to "Purr for Quincy!" Since they had a couple of hours to spare, they went out for lunch and bought the digitized version of The Wizard of Oz, so we're probably going to have to watch it again, and again, and again!

As for me, I am still undiagnosed but show no worse for wear. My vet said one internist suggested I get an endoscopy done and another one said I should have a spleen aspirate. Mom has said NO to both, based on what they know I don't have, and my vet wasn't even sure they are the right things to do either so she wants to talk to another internist. Mom is going to talk to my vet later today so they could figure something out for me. I'm still eating, playing and twitching just fine and I don't appear to have lost anymore weight but I'm sure I will be rechecked again in a few weeks. Mom has also been bringing me extra meals on the side and I've been eating them.

We haven't been very responsive to your diary/photo comments, gifts, or pawmails lately, but have been reading them and thank you very much! Sorry about that, but it's not my fault Mom has been in a mood. I think we need to take her to see that Wizard.....

Love,
Dorothy

Dorothy: I love the leaning photo because it looks like you are skipping down the yellow brick road. May I suggest that you get another cat or two before Halloween comes because you need a couple of Lollipop Kids. I would gladly send you Newman and that little black kitty Vivien. They would both fit nicely in a box together, and I'll even throw in a couple of lollipops!

Hi Dorothy, No No I mean Mercy. You and your entire family are beautiful. We send lots of purrs and prayers to your house. We are glad your feeling better. We hope all is well with Quincy. Please take care and enjoy your movie The Wizard of Oz. Again and Again and Again. Can we send our Auntie Brandy over when your watch the movie? This is her favorite movie of all times. We know we had to watch it at least once a week when she was growing up.

I can't tell you how many hours I was going back and forth on the Catster HALLOWEEN kitties last night. When I saw Dorothy, the hunt was on. I found 9 of the characters. My granddaughter is now 6, but she has been enthralled by The Wizard of Oz for years now. She has grown through one pair of red sparkly shoes and next the silver sparklies. (Thank heaven for Target!) We've read the original version, watched the movie 50 times, bought a set of Madame Alexander Wizard of Oz "McDonald's" dolls, and of course, most recently seen the play by our local group of young actors. I was up late last night rounding up all the characters and emailing them to Lydia. I'm sure she loved getting that email. Blessings to you.
