Arrival Story:
I was looking for a second cat, a friend for Shadow. When I saw Chico's picture online I just knew that he was the one. I called the shelter and went to meet him the next day. It was love at first sight; he came to me immediately and cuddled and purred. I couldn't wait to take him home.

Well, some time has passed since I was on Catster last and I'm sure some of my furriends think I have disappeared. So, let's see, what has been happening to keep me away.

First of all, Dad was in the hospital for two days last month and Mom was very worried about him. He wasn't feeling well late in the week and by the time he agreed to see a doctor it was the weekend and the on call doctor suggested he go to the ER and have a chest x-ray. Well, Mom took him to the ER and they kept him there in triage for several hours giving him nebulizer treatments and keeping him on oxygen; they did a chest x-ray and lots of other things and then they admitted him. Boy was he surprised! Mom wasn't; she was pretty sure they were going to keep him. His breathing was terrible and he had a really nasty cough. The doctors figured that it was a bad bronchial infection coupled with COPD and he wasn't going anyplace. So he spent Saturday and Sunday night in the hospital and came home Monday. He then saw his primary doctor who confirmed that yes, they were right to admit him to the hospital because he was very ill. Dad is doing much better now and he is not smoking anymore. Mom quit a year ago and now Dad has quit too. The house smells much better now, MOL!

Last Thursday Shadow and I were scheduled to go to the vet for our annual checkups and shots. Shadow decided that she didn't want to go that day and went all the way up on the top of the kitchen cabinets where no one can get her, so Mom took me alone. I have to go back next Monday for my echocardiogram for my heart murmur and stay overnight so that Tuesday they can clean my teeth and remove a small tumor/cyst from my right rear leg. I had to go the vet earlier this month because I was limping and the x-rays showed that I have arthritis in my front legs and shoulders. Now I am on another medicine. Mom says I am catching up to her, MOL!!

Well, that's about it for now. I have to go eat so Shadow doesn't get all of my food. I'll catch you all later. It's good to be back and we will try to be here more frequently.

Still limping

First, let me say how pleased and shocked I was to be chosen for DOTD on Saturday. What an honor!

So, now, back to last week. Mom and Dad did their best to keep me from jumping on and off things but seriously, who can keep a cat from jumping and climbing. They did keep my cat tree locked in the bathroom so I couldn't jump on that. My limp did get a little better during the week but as soon as the medicine wore off (Caturday) I started limping badly again that night. Mom called the vet and made an appointment for me to have x-ray's tomorrow (Monday). So now I had to stop eating at 9:00 PM and won't get anything to eat until sometime tomorrow. Mom is worried but I try to keep her spirits up by sitting on her lap and purring.

So, all my furriends, I hope to have some good news for you soon. And now, since I can't have anything to eat, I think I will say good night and go to bed.

A trip to the vet.

Mom and Dad took me to the vet on Monday because I have developed a limp in my right front leg. The vet checked me over very carefully and couldn't find anything wrong. He gave me a pain killer and anti inflammatory that lasts 5 days and said he would call us on Thursday to see how I am doing. Oh, he also said I couldn't climb, jump, get up in my cat tree or anything else. Well, my cat tree is now in the bathroom and the door is closed so I can't get to it. I do still have to jump up on the chair and things like that but it is not too high.

Mom and Dad say that I am doing a little better but I still have the limp so they will see if the vet says I need x-rays tomorrow when he calls. I also have a lump on my right rear thigh that the vet tried to aspirate on Monday but he couldn't get anything from it. Mom and Dad have decided to have that taken out once I have recovered from this limp. That means I have to have another echocardiogram and blood tests because of my heart murmur.

I guess they love me a lot because they spend an awful lot of money on me for vet bills.

More later.
