The Burfday Brat

It's a special day. Today's not only Mommy's Day, it's my very furstest birfday evah! I'm finally a year old! It feels like such a huge achievement. I mean, it's taken me 365 days to get here. Next month will be my first adoptiversary with my family. (Remember how young I was when they got me? I was bottle fed for several weeks and could barely stand up by myself at first.)
My parents took Kirby back to her mommy in VA this weekend, and they didn't get back until about 5 today. I was kind of upset with them, both for being gone and taking Kirby away from me again. So, I made it known by shredding their shower curtain, taking a huge bite out of Mommy's Mother's Day bouquet, and biting their hands when they tried to scold me. I also swatted Koivu on the face as if to say, "You're not Kirby, so screw you!" I've really been a roya brat today. Happy Mother's Day, Mom! MUWAHAHAHA! >:)

Heat Up 'Till Ya Sizzle

I had to go back to my evil doctor today. I've been listless, not playful, and lost my appetite (which has NEVER happened before!) over the last few days. My mommy felt me and knew I had a fever. My incision area from my surgery the other week wasn't hot or hard, just me. So, I got taken to the doc today for an exam. He says I definitely do have a fever and gave me a buncha yucky pills to swallow. He gave me 2 right then and there. I'm looking better already, if you can believe that! I was even sitting in the sun and watching the birdies play outside. My daddy was worried that I'm sick from missing Kirby. While I do miss her bunches, I'm obviously more resilient than that. :)

Not Broken

I've been fixed. They fixed me, even though I never knew I was broken in the first place. Apparently, it was supposed to happen over a month ago, but things kept pushing it back. Finally yesterday, I got dropped off at the sick kitty place (even though I wasn't sick) and they made me go to sleep for a while, and when I woke up, they said I was all "fixed." I'll tell you, though, I was NOT a happy camper while at the sick kitty place. I was a feisty little firecracker to the sick kitty helpers, and apparently made them earn their paychecks that day. But, when Daddy came and picked me up, I purred and purred just cuz I was so happy to see him! He was glad to see me, too, but he didn't purr. I'm his baby girl, so he would fall apart without me. He says he worried about me all day.
I was tired all afternoon after the big fixing, but now I'm better. I even napped in the sunbeam by the back door with Kisses. Kisses actually was fixed not too long ago, too. I know Mommy and Daddy are relieved now that there's no more broken animals in the house.

My First Easter!

My very first Easter was spent in quite a memorable way. I took a loooooong drive with Mommy, Daddy, and Kisses. It took almost the whole day, that's how long it was. Of course, I slept most of the way. That afternoon, I found out where we were going: We were visiting April and Kirby in Virginny! I was happy to see Kirby! Not so happy to see the other kitty she's living with now (who's really fat and looks like Baby, but doesn't seem to like me very much). But, Kirby stayed at the hotel with us that night so she and I got to catch up on all our playtime. I spent the majority of the next day at April's apartment, with Kia and Aria while the dogs and humans went for a long drive around the big city. Today I get to endure the nice long drive back. I'm going to be so sick of cars after this weekend! But, it was great seeing Kirby! I hope she comes to visit us next time, though, so I don't have to do any driving. :)

Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman

I have officially hit puberty! My first heat cycle started up this week and I've been keeping everyone awake all night with my incessant howling. I even backed up to Sonni once and tried to entice him. He sniffed my butt for a second, then stood right over my back...and started grooming my head. I guess I shouldn't make passes at boys who've been neutered. MOL! Well, I now have an appointment to get sterilized on Friday the 25th. It just doesn't seem possible that I'm ready to be spayed yet. I'm only 8 months old! I know that's old enough, but for cat's sake I'm still a youngin'!

Maddy Christmas to You!

My first Christmas was quite interesting! I behaved like a royal terror during most of the decorating, wrapping, and unwrapping. But it's so exciting to play around with all the wrapping paper and ribbons and garland hanging from everything. I just couldn't resist my playful urges! For presents, all of us kittens got a Crinkle Cave where we can hide and sit on a piece of material that crinkles under us. It's lots of funsies! And, since it was my very first Christmas, I got a special little gift of my own: a selection of jingly balls and kittynip toys! Kirby and I both love them!
Oh, and as a present to myself that night, I decided to slip into the garage unnoticed and stay there all night. No one noticed I was gone until the next morning, when I missed breakfast for the first time EVER. Mommy immediately checked the garage, since I'm prone to sneaking out there. Sure enough, there I was! My paw pads were ice cold and I had to piddle something awful, but I was completely unfazed by my ordeal. I hope all of my furiends had a very Maddy Christmas, too! :)

The Greatest 'Scape

I had a crazy little lunch hour! April came home for lunch around noon-ish human time and didn't completely shut the door behind her. It was windy out so it was blowing open a little. Just enough for me to squeeze through! I slipped out unnoticed and ran to the side of the house and hid in the grass. April noticed the door swinging open and me nowhere in sight. So, she and my daddy ran outside with Kirby to track me down. They found me cowering, wide-eyed, on the ground by the fence. I tried to run away through the fence but for some reason I couldn't fit through the wire mesh. Daddy scooped me up and brought me back inside. I thought I was in big trouble, but no one yelled at me. Well, except Kirby, who gave me a piece of her mind and warned me never to do it again. I'm just glad I was found before that bad storm hit later this afternoon!

Growing Like a Weed

You should see me now! I'm getting so big it's dizzying! I'm turning into one very long kitty. My arms and legs are like a monkey's now, so my family calls me "the Monkey." I even swing from things like a monkey does! It's the cutest thing, if I do say so myself. Kirby and I play together almost non-stop, too, so we're known collectively as The Monkees.
I've really been blessed with a good home! My family just adores me and I adore them! And most of my furblings like me, too. And to think I started life in a dumpster! I think I'm quite possibly the luckiest kitten in the world!

Hello from "Maddy Addy"

Hello, everykitty! My name is Madison Adelaide and I am just 6 weeks old, but already I am enjoying my life to the fullest! My human family acquired me by default 2 weeks ago, but it seems like it was all part of a divine plan because now they've decided to keep me (or I've decided to keep them). I have a few close furbling friends and a few who still don't quite know what to do with me. My best friend is Kirby, who is also my surrogate mommy. She watches over me very carefully, protects me from the hostiles, and cleans my fur after I've been given a bottle. Everybody calls me her baby, and she comes looking for me whenever someone asks her "Where's your baby, Kirby?" I hope I get to be as smart as her when I'm all growed up! :)
I don't even weigh a full pound yet, so I'm looking forward to getting a little bit bigger so I can do all the stuff the big kids do (e.g. go up and down the stairs, sun myself out on the deck, go for rides regularly, get dressed up in cute kitty clothes).
Other kitties and doggies have warned me that life is not always as easy as it looks. But, I think they were just full of it because it's been pretty decent to me so far. Or maybe I'm just that lucky! Yeah, that's gotta be it.
