Arrival Story:
On May 8, 2007 two young girls came to my door and wanted to know if I would take their 7 week old kitten because it cried all the time and their mother couldn't stand it anymore. After hearing their story I told them I would take the kitten. I knew as soon as I saw the kitten it needed to go to a vet ASAP. This was a cry of pain, not just crying. Her stomach was distended, she had an eye infection and an upper respiratory infection. Knowing they hadn't taken it to a vet, I was very curious how they knew it had the eye and upper respiratory infection. I found out later the owner told them when she gave them the kitten. A short while later the older girl came back and said their aunt wanted the kitten. I said I would only release the kitten back if they took it to the vet immediately as it was seriously sick. To make a long story short, she decided to not take the kitten. I called my vet back and they took me in the same night. She was extremely constipated which is why she was crying so. With the appropriate medications and antibotics, Suki was better in a couple of days. Then she was very listless so I took her back to the vet. She had a temperature of 105 degrees due to an infection and had to stay overnight. Boy was she ever glad to see me the next day and come home! Suki was rather aggressive in the beginning including scratching and biting. After giving her timeout numerous times she has stopped both. When she wants something she basically wants it now and believe me, she can yowl very loudly to make sure I hear her!
Bio:
I named her Suki Miya. Suki means beloved, Mi means beautiful and ya means March. She is a very lively little girl and keeps all the other animals on their toes. She especially likes Rocky the most and can be found napping with him in the window hammock. I am so glad she is doing well now and is fitting right into the family. The girls came back once to see her and I tried to give them information on taking care of a kitten so they can learn the proper way to care for an animal. I learned that she had been taken away from her mother at 4 weeks which must have been very tramatic for her and a wonder that she even survived. I love her and she loves playing with the other cats. Two of the dogs, Allie and Renny, try to mother her and Allie won't let Arashi anywhere near her. Allie will start a shrill yapping and yowling if Arashi even looks at the kitten.
