Arrival Story:
On October 29, 2002 I was on my way to meet a friend when I saw this kitten, looked to be about 6 weeks old, by the parking lot at my apartment. She looked like a full-breed Siamese and I thought someone at the complex had lost her. I asked around and no one claimed her. I already had 2 cats, which was the limit at this complex, so I put food out for her and the black cat I assumed to be her mom. Over the winter they came to expect me before I left for work and when I came home. They even met me at my door, which was on the 3rd floor! She always followed me when I went to barbeque and my neighbors said "Why don't you take her? She loves you." I told them I had the 2-cat limit already and they said "We won't tell." Being feral she wouldn't let me pick her up, so I set a out to capture her on a Saturday when Petco was doing FEL testing and vaccinating. I put food out by my door for several days before; then when she was eating I scooped her into the carrier and took her to Petco. She was negative so I brought her in; she had fleas so I put Frontline on her and kept her in the bathroom until they were gone.

While the movers were loading the truck for our move to Raleigh, NC, Nala got out. We had put Sheba & Patches in the bathroom the night before so they wouldn't get out, but Nala wouldn't let us touch her. I saw her under a shrub next to the building but when I went to catch her she took off. We searched all over the complex but finally we had to leave her behind. I am hoping she finds the house across from the garage where the lady feeds the strays. If she goes across Indian School Road, which is the direction she ran to, I fear she got hit by a car. She is microchipped but she won't let anyone near her. The hardest part is not knowing what has happened to her; I just pray she doesn't suffer. She has been an indoor-only cat since I captured her at 6 months old.
