Arrival Story:
I was getting ready to buy my house and knew I wanted a companion for my cat, Lark. I had started thinking about getting another cat when a friend of mine told me about another friend of hers who had rescued this mama cat and her kittens. Some people at her apartment building had moved and left the mama cat there. She had found homes for all of the kittens, but not the mama. After talking with my parents, they agreed to let me bring her home. At that time, they were calling her Dalai Mama. I brought her home and called her Callie.
Bio:
When I picked her up from the vet's office, she was so scared and skinny. Even though she is still somewhat skittish two years later, she is quite the lovebug and can be a demanding critter.
Also, about a year after having her, she got really sick, stopped eating and went into kidney failure. She made it through after two weeks at the vet's office (where at one point they were going to recommend putting her to sleep) and a rather large vet bill. That is why she only has six lives left ...
Callie passed away from an unknown illness on June 1, 2010. Here is to my Callie-cat, with all my love ...
