Arrival Story:
Gabriel came to me as a special needs foster kitty when he was about 2 months old. He had very little use of his back legs and could not #1 on his own. The vet said he would never walk or be able to potty on his own. We did physical therapy every day and Gabriel was eventually able to walk up on his legs, nowhere near perfectly, but he could walk and climb. He was also starting to be able to potty on his own. In April, 2008, he couldn't #2 and had to be knocked out to be "cleaned out" and had a stroke. He lost some function of his legs but he's regained some of that back with physical therapy. He likes to give me heart attacks by pushing the limits of what he can do by jumping off surfaces mama thinks are too high- He looks right at me before he does it the booger! Anyway, the shelter was going to adopt him out after the stroke. At that point, his pupils would fluctuate greatly when he was upset and were no longer even. I felt that adopting him to someone who would have to learn to help him potty and do the other daily maintenance things would be too much for him so I adopted him then and there. He is such a little sweetheart and loves to wrap his front legs around my neck and purr like crazy. He is without a doubt the sweetest cat I've ever seen.

Bio:
Gabriel loves to climb everything, especially whatever I'm on. He loves to lay on me and just purrs like crazy. Everyone at the humane society just loves him!

I squashed my paw

I've been doing really good with walking up on my back legs and going potty on my own! Yesterday, though, I squashed my paw in the kitty door that goes to the room where the other kitties litter box is. My legs don't work well enough to use that door. anyway, mom got home and heard me crying and found me with my paw stuck in the door. She got it unstuck and then looked at it and got upset. It was squashed, swollen and bleeding! She rushed me to my friends at the Humane Society and they are waiting to see if I broke it or how bad it is. Mom said I only really have two good legs and I really been to be careful with them. Mom thinks I was chasing Beegee and she went out there to get away from me when I got my paw stuck. I'll never tell though!

Oh boy, my first entry!

Yay! I already got a rosette, thank you!!! My foster mom went away this weekend to visit friends and family so I got to visit my friends at the humane society. They played with me and cuddled me and I even got them to carry me around with them. It's hard being adorable. The only bad thing this weekend was that they decided to neuter me while I was handy- How Rude!

The lady scared foster mom because when she came to pick me up, the lady told her she had bad news. It was just that she had to come back in an hour because they fixed me but mom about had a heart attack because she thought something bad had happened to me.

Right now I'm digging my claws in her back and trying to chew the sequins and beads of her shirt while I dictate my journaling to her. Sometimes I'm think she changed my name to "No No!" because she says that about as much as she says me name. Hee Hee. Maybe I'll start counting how many times and hour she tells me "No"!

Purrs and kisses,
Gabriel
