Arrival Story: Tahoe came to me as a multiple rescue. I inherited him from a tech at a vet I used to use. She had originally rescued him as a newborn - part of an abandoned litter out in the country. The county in which she worked at the time did not have a no kill facility, so she took the litter in herself and, one by one, found homes for everyone.
Tahoe was apparently too much for his first adoptive family. Coming home to open cabinets was disturbing, for some reason, and his first family returned him. Since he's so personable, he was quickly placed with a second family, who loved him for some time. Until one of his new parents decided that an adult cat wasn't what the doctor (or tech) ordered. In lieu of a pair of kittens, Tahoe was once again returned to the faithful tech.
She was able to keep him for some time, raising him as best she could for as long as she could. When she heard I was looking for a playmate for my aging Siamese, Frankie (who went to Kitty Heaven in early 2006), she had me come in to meet Tahoe. He had been aptly named after a Chevy Tahoe truck, because as his breed does, he kept growing and growing and growing.
Well, he had me at "Meow". I entered the room to meet him, and all he had to do was cock his head and lift his paw, and he was mine! I leaned down to put my face close to his, and he head-butted me. End of story. He was coming home with me.
I had some adjusting to do. The cabinet and door opening is more annoying than you'd think at first. But you get used to it, you know? Plus, I never have to worry about knowing when the cat box needs attention because he'll let me know by pounding on the vertical blinds on the sliding door in my bedroom.
It's impossible to be lazy around this brute! And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Bio: Tahoe is an absolute joy to have in my life - a true friend. Even when we lost Frankie he was just the sweetest boy. He came in to say goodbye with a kiss on her forehead, and didn't leave my side until he could tell I was at peace with her passing.
A little over a year later, he's ready for a friend of his own.
Maybe a catster friend? Who knows?
