Feeling better

Well, I think I'm feeling quite better today. I hate all this pill-taking stuff, but it must be working. I'm playing rougher than ever w/Moo (I like to sneak attack him when he's on the catnip wagon), and don't seem to be wheezing much at all anymore. My third eyelid is still showing on my one eye, but overall I think I am making noticeable improvement! :)

Too many vet visits :(

Well, since my new mommy got me on 5/12/07, I have had to go to the vet's 3 times already, including today!

The first visit was a general checkup a week after mommy adopted me, and to check the incision site where I was spayed on 5/11. They thought it had a big "bump" but the next visit it had almost gone away. Other than that, everything seemed ok.

The next week I had to go back for a booster vaccine and my mommy wanted me microchipped. That was not fun. Neither was the "fecal sampling" (ouch!!!). My one ear also looked gunky and there was a patch on my head that might be ringworm, so they gave my mommy medicine for that and some liquid vitamins called "val syrup". Also at the 2nd visit the vet said I had a grade 3 heart murmur! My mommy was very upset since she had to put her dog Baby to sleep because of heart disease a week before she adopted me, but the vet didn't seem concerned. Mommy decided she wasn't happy with the information and wanted to get a second opinion.

A few days later the vet called and said it definitely was ringworm :( So I have to get this medicine on my head for a whole month!

Then today mommy took me to a new lady vet who only does cats and came highly recommended. I also needed to see a vet again because I came down with a cold in the past couple days, so I haven't been feeling so good :( Well, mommy said she likes the new vet much better than the other vet, plus she's strictly cats & small pets. Anyways, about the murmur...she thought my murmur sounded closer to a 2 than a 3 grade out of 6. She said in her experience, cats that have them younger do better than ones that develop them later in life. She recommended my mommy monitor it, and maybe at some point in the future get an ultrasound to determine blood flow, etc, to see if I need medication, but she seemed fairly confident that I shouldn't worry myself over it much at this point and it's also possible it may go away on its own, so that makes me a happy kitty and my mommy relieved! Other than that, I do have an upper respiratory infection with a slight fever, so now I have to get antibiotics, eye drops, ear drops for a possible infection in my right ear, vitamin "val" syrup & special food to boost my immune system, and still being treated for the ringworm. But, I am still happy and want to play! The vet seems to think that after I was spayed my immune system was compromised and why I have all these problems. She thought I was a good size & weight for my age and wasn't too small :)

That's about it. I'll let you know when I'm feeling better!
