Arrival Story:
My husband was collecting for charity up near Pickering in North Yorhshire at a grocery store, and when a woman came out with a cart full of cat food, he had to stop her for a chat about cats. Just so happened she was a volunteer for the Cats Protection League, as were we, and she had a few kittens needing homes. He is such a sap - we only had 4 cats and a dog at the time, and no money, but when he called me to ask if he should bring him home what could I say? He was the last of a litter, the runt, obviously very lonely. So hubby pops him in this ventilated plastic brew bin he used to use as a stool and got on the train home. It was a bit of a journey, and needless to say the poor little guy needed to use a litterbox on the way, so...what a mess. Hobbes arrived at our house covered in...well, leave that to the imagination, but he had a bath as soon as we gave him a drink.

Bio:
Hobbes is a sweet little guy who always seems to be squinting. He is trying to walk on the keyboard as I write this. He has to be the center of attention. If he is not, he makes it so by just butting in. His siblings often let him know that they are not amused. When he was about 3 years old, he kept bringing home pieces of fish. Now we did live about a mile from a large river, but these fish were filleted and ready to cook. We were puzzled, and just kept throwing then out (yuck). One day, he brought in a plastic bag with a few fish bits left in it - it had come from the little frozen food shop a couple of streets away, and he had "caught" it! He is a funny cat. We used to say all he could hunt was food wrappers when we lived in the city, but since moving to a more rural location he has (unfortunately, because I do not like to see the wildlife harmed) become something of a hunter. He brought home a blackbird almost as big as himself last week. I was speechless, as we really did not think he could catch anything. He often sleeps on my pillow at night, with his back to my face and in my arms. It is very sweet, and I miss it when he is not there.
