Arrival Story:
My husband and I rescued Melody and her two sisters and two brothers from a neighbor's backyard on April 28, 2007!! Melody was the only one out of the five that my husband picked up during the rescue. He had to get a ladder to climb over a fence to get to the area where she was. Melody was cowered under an overgrown shrub and just let my husband pick her up.

Bio:
After we decided that we were going to keep Enzo, Melody was the last one that we were still trying to find another home for. When that home could not be found, I knew I had an emotional deadline (like a few more days, LOL) before I was going to talk to my husband about keeping her too, but he had already read my mind. I just did not want to advertise her availability anywhere if I could not find her a great home through family and friends. Melody is full of personality and alot of fun. She's more chatty and daring than Enzo but both of them are so sweet and affectionate and come running to us when we call them. We're so glad she is part of our family too!

Pixie Saves the Night

November 15th 2008 7:35 am   [link to this entry]

Last night, as usual, Pixie raced Mom up the stairs on her way to bed. Dad was already fast asleep. Mom heard a faint cry while in the dark and turned on the light to see if it was Pixie, even though she didn't think it sounded like her at all. That's when Pixie led her to the walk-in closet and they found me, sitting behind the wire storage drawers that are semi-built in. I was trapped!

All the drawers were pushed in but Mom thinks that I somehow climbed in the bottom one when it wasn't pushed in all the way, jumped in the back, and then somebody pushed the drawer in. Hey, this sort of sounds like what happened to Enzo the other day with the computer desk! Mom thinks it was Dad who did it this time though, since he was in the closet last and went to bed first.

I promise to try not to whack Pixie so much anymore.

Love,
Melody

The Neighbors

November 3rd 2008 9:46 pm   [link to this entry]

The neighbors from the house three doors down came by on Halloween with their two kids to get candy. I was born in their backyard along with Enzo, Coco, Chloe, and Mimosa.

The wife asked about the lighted witch we had outside because she liked it so much, but she never asked about us. Not that I was really surprised, since she and her husband had complained about us living in their backyard. They said they really didn't want to be bothered with trying to help us in any way but were worried about fleas and other strays going to their yard if they left any food or water out.

When Mom carried us away in the carrier, the wife got into a frenzy and kept saying she felt so bad that we were being taken away from our mother and kept asking what Mom and Dad were going to do with us. Then a couple of days later she was complaining about our mother looking for us. I guess she's forgotten all about us now.

That's all in the past, but we're sure glad there are a few animal lovers in this neighborhood!

Love,
Melody

Trying to be nice to Pixie!

October 25th 2008 8:53 pm   [link to this entry]

I tried to be nice to Pixie today. I was resting in the bed in front of the computer monitor while Mom was there and Pixie was on her lap. Mom decided to bring Pixie up close to me but not before putting her hand over my paws just in case I decided to smack her!

I was enchanted by all the sweet talk coming out of Mom's mouth so guess what I did? I licked Pixie's face several times and she enjoyed it. Then Mom put Pixie back on her lap and waited a minute before trying again. This time, as she was bringing Pixie closer to me, Pixie growled! Mom says that's because my smacks have been a little too rough!

I'm working on it.

Love,
Melody
