We had a super fun weekend. It was Kitcat's birthday and she was in a great mood! Lots of friends pmailed her and gave her gifts.
Mom had the weekend off and I got leisurely leash walks and we both got time in our outdoor cat run. Also, these robins are still coming to our front tree and attacking their reflections in our picture window. That is so fun to watch.
And, these cute little birds with yellow on them are flitting around in our maple tree. Mom isn't quite sure what they are but will try to figure it out with some help from her sister.
When we go in our cat run, a couple of magpies get real angry at us. We can't get at them as our cat run has a top, but they sit there and scold us non stop. Mom tried to get video, but as soon as she comes out, they fly away. I guess they think her camera is a gun? Then, as soon as she goes back in, they start bitching at us again. It is kind of funny and annoying at the same time. They must have a nest nearby and are telling us kitties to not even think of messing with it.
Anyhow, we are very thankful to have had such a nice weekend as Mom is going to be working a very long week.
Happy spring to everyone! Or fall to our friends down under ...
Watch out for those darned maggot-pies. If they can get to you, they will peck your eyes out, speshly when they have babies that come outta their nest. They are bullies! Besides, they eat deegustin stuff...
Thank you Gunnarr! We are safe as we have a top to our cat run. We sure do know how aggressive they can be from Mom's and our dogs' experience.
Bird watching is lots of fun but the magpies shouldn't be telling you off. They sound mean and best avoided! Glad you had such a great weekend, the ones where our mum's have lots of time for us are the best of all. Special purrs to birthday girl Kitcat from Toby and Josie
Sounds like a fun weekend Squirrel! I am a bird watcher too. Mom has a feeder for birds and squirrels and I like to watch them. We had a turkey visit too Heeheee.
Those little yellow birds sound like the American goldfinch we have them here they turn brown in the winter and the males turn bright yellow in the spring. we have them here too.
you really did have a great weekend. Happy belated birthday to Kit Kat from us boys, Oh!yeah and Mom to.
Since I am the window pawer to try and catch anything that moves outside, I can relate to trying to catch birdies at your feeder...but since only Pawppy & Meowmy have seen magpies I am happy to say I have no experience with those rascals!
Glad that your run has a top on it...
Perhaps your unknown birdie is a Golden Crowned Kinglet, or one of the many small warblers that have yellow on them. There are also some sparrows with some yellow markings.
In the spring at this time, most birds should be in their summer plumage if they change from season to season...this does make it somewhat easier to identify them!
Enjoy the many offerings of this beautifur season!
Birds are fun!
Mom checked our bird book and the American goldfinch and Golden Crowned Kinglet don't quite seem right. We will try and get a photo of that fast little bird and post it on my page as photo 2.
Our bird feeder is only about a foot from our window. Mom put it up there a while back to maximize our bird watching fun and to keep it away from bears and squirrel. Real squirrels, not me.
The little yellow birds are interested in the buds on our maple tree. They flit from one to the other almost like a bee!
We did post a photo of the bird and Pipo identified it as an
Knowing Mom, she will ask again next year!
I love bird watching - it reminds me of when I used to get outside and go bird hunting! MOL!
There are so many right now that we are having a blast!
