Mom consulted with our local wildlife rescue organization and was told to do what she did in this video. Kitcat & I were safe in the house and Lobo was crying on the other side of the fence because he wanted to chase it.
Evicting the Marmot
We think the critter is just fine now as there is a very large wild space right beside our carport.
Hope he decides to stay outta the carport!
Wow - I never saw a Marmot before. I did not like his noise so I can see why Lobo wanted to chase him. I hope that he is Ok but that he doesn't come back! Purrs Josie
thats one big vermin with bit teeth so glad he didn't bite any one. Maybe she is looking for a place to have her babies.
Noisy varmint, ain't he? We cats didn't care about the squeaking, but Rabbit was stomping her feet at it! I thought they were bigger than that. Is it a young one?
Thank you everyone for your comments! So far it has not come back. Phew! Mom doesn't know much about marmots but it wasn't a baby one. Maybe a small female? Until she lifted the pallet she worried that it was sick or injured. But when she saw it run, she realized it was perfectly fine. It was just trying to set up a den there and then call over some friends. It was as big as me, only wider and closer to the ground. And it had teeth like a guillotine!
Yeah, that's such a weird noise! I would have wanted to chase it too.
Hi Toki! It was super loud. Mom jumped out of her skin when she was first walking by and it peeped at her. I would have been a bit afraid to chase it as it was bigger than me. I have sharper claws but it has that weaselly look to it and those very scary teeth.
Creepy! I've never seen one of them before. Thanks.
Wow! He was as big as you!!! How scary!
He was big and loud and fast! Mom didn't let me take my leash walk while he was there. She thought we might fight.
