They turned the free Easter Egg rosies into 20 zealy rosies without warning!
So we are broke as we were trying to respond to our friends that gave us these gifts.
So we won't be giving away rosies for a very long time.
We are miffed by this because we like to give permanent rosies (the 10 zealy kind) to kitties that can really use them, but we used up all our zealies on what we thought were free rosies.
When we hovered over the Easter Egg rosies in the last day or so, nothing came up saying how much they were, so we assumed that they were still free and we were still on a special Easter promotion.
you were duped all right. not far should have warned us before they did this.
We didn't even know they were 'free' until we started getting bowled over by the loads that rolled our way...and we could find no notification that they were free, let alone for how long, early today they were still free, then suddenly without warning they were 20 zealies...sheesh!
Sorry that you got hit hard by that.
Peaches, it was supposed to be free only through Sunday. HQ had announced that in the Forums on Friday, with posts titled "FREE Gift in the Gift Store Through Sunday!". (It was also announced in the Redesign Group -- not sure where else.)
There is a "Zealie History" in your Account. Go to your "Account" page, find Item #6 -- click on the link to "Your Zealies History".
That should show you how many Zealies you used up 18 at a time on that gift, with the dates. If they charged you for those eggs before today, the 9th, then they definitely owe you for that. You would need to write to HQ to tell them there was a mistake.
If they only charged you starting today on the 9th, it still can't hurt to write to HQ -- they might try to make it right. Explain that you thought they were still free today and you used all your zealies by mistake. You could just say the same thing you have in your diary, or refer them to your diary entry.
To contact HQ now, go to the very top of any page -- in that black bar, there are 4 icons on the right-hand side. The one furthest on the right is an "envelope". Click on it and it will take you to the page for contacting HQ -- scroll to the bottom and use the form under "Contact Customer Support".
If you need more help, pmail me and I'll do what I can.
We just wrote a letter.
One thing for sure, when we gave them away this morning, there was nothing at the side telling us how much they cost and how many zealies we had left. And when we hovered over the gift, nothing showed up. So something was amiss. We assumed they were still free. Also, previously, when Catsters offered free rosettes, this lasted for several days.
We are upset because we save our zealies to purchase rosettes for kitties who are new, shy, or whose pages are bare. And, of course, for kitties who are ill or who have passed and also have pretty bare pages. Our regular friends know we love them and also want us to save our rosettes for those who don't have many and might be delightfully surprised by receiving them.
I just wait until another time to give. There are so many gifts that one kitty can never get a chance to say thank you to everyone, understandably.
I guess free gifts are nice for a lot of Catsters and new members. We had over 600 e-mails this a.m..
Don't get me wrong they are purrrty and to see a page full is sort of neat. Some kitties who have lots of friends have WOW, so many eggs. They seem to go forever on their page.
Don't feel bad about not having any Zealies a pawmail does very well for any occasion.
I bought extra Zellies to give one time. I didn't know they were free until the next day. My page was full of greetings from all those who knew it.
I never get to read the updates before holidays. Always to busy. I just go with the punches and learn as I go.
What did I learn this time????
I got to remember to cut off my e-mail notice option before holidays. It took over an hour to sift through and get rid of all notices on my e-mail.
That is really stinky of them.
I admit it's hard to know when the time comes as we all live in different time zones. There is no central clock.
Thank you everyone!
We took Scooter's advice and wrote to HQ. They cut us a break and returned our zealies. In return, we will pay more attention to these things in the future and try not to mess up like that again.
Thank you Catster HQ for having a heart, and thank you to all for your advice and support.
We will continue to try and make new kitties welcome with rosettes and support those going through rough times with little surprise gifts. We remember what that feels like when we were new.
YAY! I'm glad they made it right, Peaches. They fixed it really fast, too! Good for you for writing in and good for HQ for showing their heart. :)
