indoors Arrival Story: My husband and I rescued Enzo and his three sisters and one brother from a neighbor's backyard on April 28, 2007 and nicknamed them the Furbies. Enzo was the very first kitten to come out of the bushes where he and his family were originally living. He has a photo in his Photo Book that shows how I lured him out from the bushes with canned food. Their momma cat is a tuxedo cat that another neighbor (and our cat-sitter) tried to trap but was unable to. Momma cat was a good mother who kept her babies in good health. Bio: All the kittens were so adorable when we brought them home, but there was something special about Enzo right from the start. He warmed up to me immediately and was so relaxed and calm. His personality reminded me alot of Riley. But, I kept those feelings to myself because I knew I had to concentrate on getting them in to see the vet and finding them great permanent homes where they would get all the love and attention they deserved. Secretly, I prayed that no one would be interested in Enzo, and no one was. So here he stayed, along with his sister Melody! Lives Remaining: 9 of 9 Forums Motto: Vrrrooom!!
We had the wood fence around the house replaced a couple of months ago, so our Cat Fence-in system was removed and thrown away. We haven't been allowed to go outside in a long time anyway, but not because we don't want to!
Huey also knows we want to, so he does this thing now when the patio door is opened for him--he'll stand there and look around as if he's waiting for us to go outside with him. So, last week when it was dark, I slipped outside with Huey right behind me. He got all excited so I ran behind a shrub.
Mom knew it was best to shut the door and remain calm, but first she had to get Huey back into the house. Once she did that she came over and we started having a conversation through the shrub. Then she stuck her hand behind the shrub to tickle my head and I started purring and headbonking her hand.
Next thing you know, mom is trying to pick me up gently but because it was dark and she couldn't see very well, my feet got a little tangled in the shrub in the process, so I started crying and kicking and scratched both of mom's hands and arms real good. Mom knew I wasn't trying to scratch her but even so, she hung onto me and carried me back into the house.
I was writing a long diary entry the other night about our costumes and then you know what happened, right? Some human walked all over the keyboard and managed to get the wrong browser closed before I could save my diary.
Instead of writing everything all over again so I'll just list some highlights:
1. It all started when Mom heard the song, "I Heard It Through the Grapevine".
2. eBay! One seller actually asked us if we would consider letting her withdraw the sale after we won it for $0.99. We were the only bidders. She changed her mind after she decided she didn't want a bad rating. MOL!
3. Taking the stuffing out of the Raisins was a mess, especially the ones that were filled with those tiny styrofoam balls. Some surgery had to be performed on the limbs, too!
4. We all just sat there for our photo sessions, except for Joy, who wanted to be dramatic!
We're really looking forward to hearing Huey bark all night when the trick-or-treaters ring the doorbell!
