Poor Venus' cancer returned. Now she's miserable. She's in pain. She's been chewing on the knot. Her fur looks terrible. She moves slowly. Her breathing is obviously labored. She hasn't eaten in days. There also seems to be a problem w/ her eye. It was swollen for a day or two and when the swelling went down it was fully dialated. Then she started holding it closed. Called the vet and was advised to end her suffering tomorrow (1/13/10). She will be missed by her family.

I am still grieving over the loss of my baby (different Korat) in 11/2008. He was my baby for almost 15 years. Each person's loss is so personal, so just try to block out the stupid, generic comments you may hear from those who are ignorant to this type of precious and irreplacable bond. My friend told me "You never get over it; you just learn to adjust", and I agree. Grief counseling is helping me to adjust. I encourage you to explore this option. My prayers to Venus, you and your family.

Sorry to hear that you recently lost a Korat. 15 years is a long time. What happened to him? I have to ask, did he meow alot? Venus was very talkative before she got sick and I read that was normal for that breed, so I just wondered. I've never had a cat that talkative before, but other than that she was such a great cat and never did anything wrong (except stealing bread~ which she loved to do). She was a good and very loyal girl!
