Piper and Nobi were not getting much better. When my sister, Rebeka, said she was wanting to adopt a cat, I told her about Piper. Rebeka was excited to have such a sweet and loving cat- and a cat that was already box trained. Piper especially won her over when Rebeka learned that Piper would fetch. Piper went to live with Rebeka, and their dog, Nova, and is doing well getting used to her new home.

Piper is back. Piper was DH and my cat before we got married. When we moved from NC back to UT, we had planned to bring Piper with us but she got outside the morning we left. My step-mom agreed to care for her until our next trip to NC when we could pick her up.

Nobie and Piper are learning to live together. They aren't happy about it (especially Nobi), but they are co-existing. They still growl and hiss at each other most every time they see each other. But, they are progressing.

We are so glad to have her back with us. She loves to lounge on our bed, and the rocking chair in the nursery. She has a bit of a pooch under her belly, so I'd like to get her active and healthier. She adapted quickly to being here. She is an inside cat for now. My mom loves her, and may want to adopt her later. Until that happens, or until Piper shows she is confident and comfortable enough to be outside, she will be our inside baby.

She still plays fetch. I love it! she has a special toy that is a ball with a "tail" on it. I throw it down the hallway. She chases it and brings it right back. She would do this for hours if I could dedicate the time.

Piper doesn't like to be around the baby. She isn't used to a noisy little guy chasing her. Thankfully, she stays out of his reach. I'm sure over time, she will grow more used to him being around, even if they never become buddies.

A Final Update:

Piper ran away. My husband and I had several family emergencies at the end of 2007 (his father passed away, my husband was in the hospital several times, I was laid off) and we took her over to my stepmom's house for a while until we got on our feet again and knew we would be home again. We had lived with my family before we were married, so Piper was familiar with the place. Unfortunately, she was so familiar with it, that she knew how to climb through the floor of the house- which was also the roof of the garage- and got out through the garage. My stepmom, my husband, my little sister and I have all tried to get Piper to come back. She stays around the house, she just won't come close enough for us to catch her. My husband and I moved across the country at the end of last year, and since Piper had not let us catch her, we had to leave her behind. My stepmom will continue to feed Piper until they move sometimes next year. By that time, we are hoping Piper will have let herself be 'caught' and I can go out there and get her. Worst case scenario, we are hoping she is adopted by another family that will take good care of her.

She is a good hunter and always has been, so we are not concerned about her starving. At last sighting, she is doing very well and looked good.

Mama and Daddy gave me a BATH yesterday. A BATH. How rude. They closed me in the bathroom with all the other cats. All of them! And then they stuck me in the bathtub and gave me a bath. Ugh. The only good thing about me being first was that I got to get out of there the fastest. I can't believe they did that to me.

I caught a bird the other day. It was great! I no longer have to hunt JUST on the ground. I am just like Nick now, and I can hunt birds out of the sky. I brought it back for Mama to see. I think she liked it, because she went right away and told Daddy all about it. I was so happy.

Those kittens got to go outside today. I'm not happy about that. Mama should make them stay outside. It's bad enough I have to share my house inside with them, they should at least stay there and not ruin my world outside too.
That one kitten chased me yesterday. I was just eating, and it was playing with my tail. Then when I ran away, it followed me! It would have been cute if it hadn't been chasing me. But they aren't cute! Not at all! And I will never be friends with them. No matter how fun they are to watch . . .

I brought Mama another present today. I brought her a mouse. The mice here are just little ones- a lot smaller than the ones at the other house. But that's okay, because there are lots more stuff to bring home for her. I brought her a lizard the other day. And soon, I will bring her a bird- she will love that. I get to go outside sometimes, but I wish it were more. If I could just get Mama to the door, she always lets me out.
Those kittens are getting bigger. They are moving around more, and they are eating out of my bowl! *sigh* I don't like it, but Mama doesn't let me scare them off. She makes me be nice to me. I wish I didn't have to. Doesn't she know they chase me! Yesterday, Bella was playing with MY tail. I was minding my own business, eating out of my bowl, and she was playing with my tail. I couldn't believe it. Oh well, eventually they will be gone. Mama says Daddy is going to keep one, but that she will always love me and I will always be her favorite Piper.

I've caught two mice already. And- finally- Mama has let me go outside. She kept me inside for a whole week! What was she thinking? Anyway, I get to play outside now, and it's huge! There are so many places to explore, and so many new sites to see. I love it. Right now it is raining. Well pouring. Mama started calling me when the thunder started, but I didn't want to go inside. I saw her standing at the door when the rain started. She laughed when I had to run across the field to get cover. It's raining buckets right now! But as soon as it stops, I will go play more. And then I will go home.

This new place is so interesting. Mama says she wants me to chase away all the mice! Yay! I wish she would let me outside though, it looks so wonderful out there. And there is a roof over the porch. That means I won't get wet when it rains. Not like at the other place, I would have to hide under the cars. I like this new place. There is a strange noise that comes from upstairs too. It sounds like a cat, but louder. Mama says it is a dog, but I should stay away. I will have to just check it out myself and let her know I will be fine. Those little furballs though, they are starting to move around. Mama keeps the food and box near them, so I have to actually be around them if I want to eat or use the box. Lucky for me, there are lots of other places to hide here, so I can stay in secret and watch them. They are strange little things.

RIP Jack 06.18.07

Jack died today. Mama seems so sad. After she found Jack, she called me and wanted me to come inside. It was WAY before my bedtime, but she was so sad I came inside anyway. I don't her to be sad anymore. I hope Jack is better now and I hope he is happy. He should be, in Kitty Heaven he can stay "inside" always and he can eat as much food as he wants. I don't think Mama is going to let me outside tomorrow either, but I am okay with that. I just hope that she feels better.

Mama. Is. Mean. She's so mean! How could she do this to me?! After I came inside last night, she cornered me and picked me up. I thought she was just going to pet me and then let me go, because she does that almost every night. But no! She and Daddy held me down- and SHAVED ME!!! She first took a comb out, and tried to comb the leaves and pricklies from my fur. She got them out of most of my fur. And I was good the whole time she was combing me, even my tail. But then, she couldn't get them out of my back legs. So she and Daddy held me down while she shaved the knots out! My poor fur. My poor , poor fur. I now have places on my back legs that have been shaved. Shaved! I can't believe Mama did this to me. Mean ol' Mama.
