Skills: He sits for treats and puts his paw up, he almost catches the ball in midair when he plays fetch, he kicks the soccer ball back and forth
Arrival Story: Buster and his momma just showed up starving one day at our back porch when we were cooking chicken. After eating some scraps, they came back every night at 6:30 PM to eat and usually sleep. Then one day his momma disappeared and Buster was left to fend for himself. He has since been our housecat and a beloved part of our family. On the day Buster and his momma showed up, we had just decided to get a dog. We are first time cat owners and are really enjoying his affection and quirky personality.
Bio: When Buster first came into our lives we knew very little about cats. In fact, we thought Buster was a little girl. The vet had to tell us he was a little boy. We learned about Maine Coons by looking them up on Wikipedia. We found that Buster, quite naturally, had every trait and behavior. Buster plays fetch just like a dog (it's his favorite game.) He drops his toys in the water bowl, as well as picks them up with his paws. He trills when he's startled, sounding more like a bird then a cat. He's definitely not a lap cat, but he shows his affection by constantly following us around the house and by sleeping at our feet at night. He loves pushing items off of tables and nightstands.
Buster reminds us of a perpetual two year old. He loves us from a distance while demanding constant attention. Often he zooms around the house at top speed like he is chasing some imaginary villain. Buster doesn't know the meaning of the word no. Basically he wants what he wants when he wants it and won't take no for an answer. In his mind, there is nothing off limits.
Buster appears to be developing a special bond with his Dad. He immediately announces to him each time he potties, demanding that Daddy promptly flush it down the toilet, again not taking no for an answer. Occasionally he sits by the door and meows if his Dad leaves unexpectedly. Perhaps Buster's most infuriating prank is his obsession with ripping up toilet paper. If anyone leaves the toilet paper out, you can bet it will be in shreds in a matter of minutes. We think it is safe to say that boredom is not in Buster's vocabulary.
I am so PC in everything I do. My favorite thing in the whole world is to scratch on the patio door until Mommy or Daddy opens it and to go outside on the patio. I don't really do anything out there that is different than what I do inside. If I jump up on the fence I really do get in trouble though. I just roam around, chew on the leaves of the bush and watch the squirrels and birds through the fence cracks.
Daddy asks me why I want to go out there because there's nothing I can see out there that I can't see from the bedroom window. Doesn't he understand? The patio is a very unique place, a very different place than up on top of the bookcase, under the bed, in the closet or on my cat seat. Why doesn't he get it? A unique place is really hard to find when you are just a plain old house cat.
I hear on the radio and on TV that many people are also PC. They talk about it like it is a bad thing, like they lack imagination. But I can't blame people for having a sense of adventure that they don't understand. My sense of adventure is soothed by an hour or so on the patio.
I am Buster of Sacramento and I am PC - PATIO CAT!!!
My pawrents have really been watching the election in Iran and I almost forgot to check in and say thank you to some nice kitties who left me some nice kitty gifts.
Thanks Rayna for the nice grape drink... How did you know grape was my favorite?
Cammi was DDP the other day and I cruised by her page and saw the cutest "glamour shot" photos of her. Thanks for the flag. You're right, it is close to Independence Day! I need to start practicing my under the bed drill. Just like mama always said, "Duck and cover son, duck and cover"!
The furever star that Stipely sent me as well as the beautiful diamond that Benny's family sent will remind me always how short and precious our time is with our family and friends. May they both rest in peace and forever bring gentle smiles to their families' faces.
It is a beautiful day so I guess I will go scratch on the patio door until it magically opens and take a nap in the sun.
I got so busy today I had not had a chance to stop by and check in on my Catster pals until now!!! Wow was I surprised!! Thanks Catster Cat! It is always fun to be acknowledged.
Thanks for the World and nice note RA. I also enjoyed hearing from Kaci Sunshine. Sorry to hear you had "boom boom" storms at your house too! Under the bed sounds like a safe place though. I will have to remember if they come by my way again! It was nice to hear from Hazel Lucy and Buddie always loved via pawmail.
Well I am going to go cruising to see all the other DDP entries and read my paw mail!
I really like the new catster comment section. It is new to me and I don't remember to check it but it is really cool!!! HQ is always dreaming up new fun stuff... While I am acknowledging stuff I like. I sure like the variety of Furever gifts they are adding and I hope the keep adding them. I like the Holiday themed ones.....maybe they will come up with some neat halloween and Christmas furever gifts!!!
