Arrival Story:
Laverne, Shirley, and Kallie, were part of a litter of 7 kittens that came into the animal shelter, where I was a volunteer. The shelter director wanted to euthanize them because they had watery eyes!! I checked them over and found that they were infested with fleas! I bathed all 7 of them, and convinced the director that they were not sick, and should not be euthanized. He agreed to let 2 of them be put up for adoption, and I took the other 5 home to foster. They were all doing very well. One day, the shelter secretary called and asked me to foster another litter of 4 kittens, and bring back the 5 that I had. I reluctantly brought back the 2 biggest kittens, and took home the 4 new ones. The 2 that I brought back to the shelter looked so good! They were put up for adoption. As much as I hated to give them up, I hoped and prayed they would get good homes. That did not happen. The incompetent crew at the shelter EUTHANIZED THEM BY MISTAKE! I was livid! I cannot find the right words to convey how I felt. Needless to say, I did not return the other kittens to the shelter, and that is how the twins,Laverne and Shirley, and their sister, Kallie, became permanent members of our family. That was also the end of my volunteering at that shelter.
