Arrival Story:
While still living in a no-pets apartment, we used to go visit the animals at the MSPCA in Jamaica Plain. One day, while we were looking at the puppies, a volunteer asked if we'd consider adopting an adult cat with a great personality--we said no, but went and met this sick cat (named Lime at the time) who purred when we petted him. His sibling had already been adopted and we were told that he only had a few days left before he was put down. The next day when we snuck him in our building, Obie hid under the living room coffee table briefly. When he came out, he realized that he was off Death Row and purred longer and harder than he ever has since.

Bio:
There is another cat in our neighborhood who looks a lot like Obie, and shortly after we moved a neighbor shot Obie with a BB gun. The explanation? "I thought he was the other cat, who chases the birds and squirrels away." (!) That cost Obie one of his lives, but now he and the poor shot are best of friends.
