Chicken gizzards and hearts; peanut butter; Mom's pop-tarts; Used tissues; Sunbeams!!! Mimi's Yard

Next door neighbor's cats! Bugs; The Mail Truck (White!); Un- invited Four-legged visitors to my yard!

Favorite Toy:
I love my "blue man"; Anything soft and chewy; discarded paper towel rolls; Fresh toilet paper

Favorite Food:
Chicken gizzards and hearts; (If it once clucked or mooed, I'll eat it!)

Favorite Walk:
To the park with Dad so I can threaten the ducks and geese; Down hydro-drive by the Ohio river; Up and down our hill

Best Tricks:
I have none. When you're as cute as I am, tricks aren't necessary!

Arrival Story:
My big sister, Egypt (also a basenji) passed into doggy heaven. Mom and Dad were sad so of course the answer was another basenji (after all we don't smell, bark or need many baths.) They went back to Edgerton's Kennel in Canfield, Ohio and found moi! How lucky was that?

My idea of a great day is having both Mom and Dad at home at my beck and call. I really dig sunbeams and follow them around the house. I am a genius at hiding bone-bones but not so crafty at locating them. Mom's really good at that. She's not as much fun as Dad is, but for a human, she's pretty cool and gives great doggy massages!

Dear Diary,
All we want to do is to change my #1 picture. It's still on the Memorial Day photo, but Dogster won't let us get to our "Manage Photos" page. What's up with this? I apparently can write in my diary, but that's about it. Any ideas out there?

~Shaki's Lament~
I wish to change my photo,
but Dogster says, "No-Go!"
What's a pup to do?

We luv sharing stories 'n' pics,
But Dogster hasn't given us the fix,
What can this pup do?

If you've an "in" with headquarters,
let them know we're "out-of-sorters" [C'mon, what rhymes with quarters?]
This 'senji fur sadly cries, "Ba-roo!!!"

My Heart is Breaking

Mommy told me about a front page article in our daily paper that was about a breeder of Havanese puppies in my home state. 86 puppies and dogs were seized, with four of them found dead at the kennel. This person's web site was still up, advertising puppies for sale. The picture shown of one malnourished pup was heartbreaking, and that was just one of the many that were suffering. What is even more shocking is that this person was at one time the president of the Havanese Society of America and a former judge. Our state has very good laws in place now to keep watch over these "puppy farms," as some are called. My question is how and why did it take so long for the situation to be noticed? Also, a truly caring breeder would certainly ask for help from the outside or from other breeders and/or kennel owners by saying, "I'm in over my head. Help!" The remaining puppies are with caring veterinarians and people now and will receive proper treatment.

They're Finally Home!

Dear Diary,
It’s been a long 2-weeks, but my Mommy ‘n’ Daddy FINALLY came home. They were in South Africa, ‘n’ I know that’s a Long Way Away. They even went on a safari ‘n’ saw big ol’ animals that could have had them for lunch!!! I’m just glad they did not take ME! They also saw some wild dogs on the safari. These dogs are a special breed found on the Reserve. They say they want to go back, but I’m not sure if I’m going to let them ‘cause of those wild animals walking around. You know, around here raccoons get in our garbage, but there big ol’ baboons get in the garbage cans.
I’m just sooooo glad they are home now, ‘n’ willing to give me lots of tummy-rubs that I’ve been missing out on!
