Dear Meowmy,

Thank you for setting me free today. The illness in my brain was very scary. At the end, I couldn't stand or walk. I know you are sad right now, but I am well and with my momma, Belle, again.

Thank you for giving me, Kragen and Belle a wonderful home for the past 15 years. We were such a happy family. Please comfort Kragen for me. I will miss you very much until we meet again.

With love forever,
Figaro

Traumatic Day!

Yesterday was a traumatic day! My original dentistry appointment had to be postponed, so it wasn’t until yesterday that I went to the vet to get my teeth cleaned. Of course, I had to take another ride in the ’67 VW. Needless to say, I yowled the whole way there.

Meowmy dropped me off at the vet, and I had to stay in a cage for awhile. Then I was given something to make me fall asleep. Dr. Jackson had to clean a lot of tartar from my teeth, but she said my teeth looked great! I didn’t have to have any teeth pulled! Yippee! When I regained consciousness, I wasn’t very happy with Dr. Jackson, even though she is known to be a nice vet. I hunkered down in the back of my cage, and I wasn’t very friendly to anyone.

In the afternoon meowmy finally came to pick me up. On the way home I meowed a bit, and then about 2 blocks from home I began to howl. You see, I had refused to use the litter box at the vet, and I couldn’t hold back any longer. By the time I got home, my legs and stomach were soaking wet. Yuck! Meowmy put the cat carrier in the bathtub, and when she let me out, she cleaned and dried me with paper towels. I finally got to go into the playroom. All the other kitties just had to check me out—I got sniffed from head to toe. Yesterday was a traumatic day!

Sincerely,
Figaro

Meowmy’s (Not So Little) Angel

Meowmy says I’m her (not so little) angel!

I went to the vet on Friday. I’m 10 years old now, and I had to get a complete physical exam. Of course, I cried the whole way there. It didn’t help that meowmy’s car wasn’t working, so we had to ride in a bumpy, rattly ’67 VW bug. Meowmy kept telling me everything was going to be OK. At the vet I was a good boy. I got weighed (I’m still quite heavy!), checked, ears cleaned, claws clipped, blood drawn and a shot. Meowmy couldn’t believe how well-behaved I was! Dr. Jackson said I was an angel!

We got the results of the blood test last night. Everything looks great! Now we can proceed with dentistry next week. My molars need cleaning but otherwise look good. Unfortunately, the gums around my 2 upper fangs are pretty red and swollen, and we’re hoping a good cleaning and antibiotics will fix that. So, meowmy’s (not so little) angel gets to go back to the vet again next week! Oh boy!

Sincerely,
Figaro

Dear Diary,

I am so excited! My Catster page was just awarded 5 paws in the "Give Some Paw" stroll! Yippee! Thank you to the anonymous Catster who liked my page! And greetings to all Catsters who come by to visit! Purrs to you all!

Sincerely,
Figaro

I’ve Been Tagged!

I've been tagged by Mathis der Meowler.

Here are the rules:
Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Cats who are tagged need to write in their own diary about the seven random facts and the rules. You need to choose seven cats to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment that they have been tagged and to read your diary!

1. My name is Figaro. I am named after the character “Figaro” in Rossini’s opera “The Barber of Seville” and Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro.” These operas are based on two of the “Figaro trilogy” plays by Pierre Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais.

2. I was the biggest kitten in Belle’s litter of four. Now I am huge!

3. I may be a big cat, but I have a tiny high voice.

4. When I was less than 2 years old, I broke my left hind leg near the hip. I had to have a “femoral head and neck excision”—an operation in which the ball joint is cut off. When I got home I could walk and jump again as if nothing had ever happened. Even though that leg is now shorter than before, I am still a huge cat!

5. Because I am so large, I always get my way (with the other cats, that is). I don’t even need to say anything; I just get up and walk over somewhere, and the other cats step aside. I have become known as the quiet “intimidator.”

6. When I was a kitten, Entrechat used to hassle my family. When I grew up, I realized I didn’t need to put up with that anymore! After cleaning Entrechat’s clock a couple times, meowmy now keeps us in separate parts of the house.

7. I shed a lot of fur. Fortunately, I adore being brushed!
