Yesterday was a traumatic day! My original dentistry appointment had to be postponed, so it wasn’t until yesterday that I went to the vet to get my teeth cleaned. Of course, I had to take another ride in the ’67 VW. Needless to say, I yowled the whole way there.
Meowmy dropped me off at the vet, and I had to stay in a cage for awhile. Then I was given something to make me fall asleep. Dr. Jackson had to clean a lot of tartar from my teeth, but she said my teeth looked great! I didn’t have to have any teeth pulled! Yippee! When I regained consciousness, I wasn’t very happy with Dr. Jackson, even though she is known to be a nice vet. I hunkered down in the back of my cage, and I wasn’t very friendly to anyone.
In the afternoon meowmy finally came to pick me up. On the way home I meowed a bit, and then about 2 blocks from home I began to howl. You see, I had refused to use the litter box at the vet, and I couldn’t hold back any longer. By the time I got home, my legs and stomach were soaking wet. Yuck! Meowmy put the cat carrier in the bathtub, and when she let me out, she cleaned and dried me with paper towels. I finally got to go into the playroom. All the other kitties just had to check me out—I got sniffed from head to toe. Yesterday was a traumatic day!

Meowmy says I’m her (not so little) angel!
I went to the vet on Friday. I’m 10 years old now, and I had to get a complete physical exam. Of course, I cried the whole way there. It didn’t help that meowmy’s car wasn’t working, so we had to ride in a bumpy, rattly ’67 VW bug. Meowmy kept telling me everything was going to be OK. At the vet I was a good boy. I got weighed (I’m still quite heavy!), checked, ears cleaned, claws clipped, blood drawn and a shot. Meowmy couldn’t believe how well-behaved I was! Dr. Jackson said I was an angel!
We got the results of the blood test last night. Everything looks great! Now we can proceed with dentistry next week. My molars need cleaning but otherwise look good. Unfortunately, the gums around my 2 upper fangs are pretty red and swollen, and we’re hoping a good cleaning and antibiotics will fix that. So, meowmy’s (not so little) angel gets to go back to the vet again next week! Oh boy!
