Arrival Story:
I was volunteering at a humane society and at the time she was a six month old half grown kitten. She kept climbing up my legs and trying to follow me out of the room. The other cats picked on her and I wanted to get her out of there because she seemed so sad! When I left the room and closed the door and looked back through the window, she hid to get away from the other cats. My heart broke. That did it, she was coming home with me!

I strongly suspect that Whiskers's former owners abused her, because she's afraid of so many things. The broom, the mop, strangers, men, children, going outside, etc. Her name used to be Whiskey and I changed it to Whiskers so it wouldn't confuse her too much because it sounds similiar. To this day she has only truly bonded to me, and I am honored that I was able to gain her trust. She must have seen something in me is all I can say, because she chose me to be her savior. From day one she acted grateful to me for taking her from that place. She was filthy and covered in parasites. We took her to the vet and got her healthy again. Whiskers acts like a little princess, almost snooty sometimes, but she's actually very sweet. She's spoiled rotten and she knows it, and she just eats it up! She's been spayed so she can't mother any unwanted kittens. Whiskers's Motto: You can't spoil a cat too much. My Motto: People might ask me, why get pets when it hurts so much when they pass on? My answer is, because it hurts even more not to have them in my life at all.

Forums Motto:
Little Princess

Whiskers' World

Time for me to tell Whiskers' story. (Her picture is my avatar now because I crusade in her name.) She suddenly stopped eating and started rapidly losing weight. She cried in discomfort and I force fed her for a few days till I could get a doctor, the same food that probably lead to her death I feel so guilty. When I got her to the vet she'd lost nearly half her body weight. After an examination the vet told me it was terminal liver cancer.

When they gave her the shot that would end her suffering, the vet was surprised that her heart kept beating. I knew that she didn't want to leave me. She'd always been very intuned to me. I was holding her and I stroked her and said, it's okay baby girl you can go, I'll be okay. Then her heart finally stopped.

The food Whiskers ate all her life? PURINA Cat Chow and PURINA one! Concidence? Most likely not, since many other pets had liver damage from purina products.

It's not just Waggin Train. PURINA IS POISON!

Sorry it's been so long.

My Mama was very sick for a long time, and in the end she had three surgeries in about a month's time. One right after the other. One minor, two major. She's still going through some pain and a lot of tiredness. So we'll be back when she's better. - Whiskers

We're Back, And Where We've Been.

Okay, so this is how it all started...

Mama got sick, so she had to go to a special hospital, so she was taken allll the way from El Centro to San Diego, where she stayed in the hospital for a week and a half.

She moved to an awful place for awhile, and Smokey came to live with her for a time, while I stayed with grandma and great grandma.

While she lived there, something awful happened. Mama's horrible roommate tied Smokey's leash to the back of a car and got him dragged down the street! Later this terrible person was taken to a hospital herself.

It took two months for Smokey to recover, and he was so traumatized that Mama sent him back to us, because he didn't like San Diego, but I missed Mama, so I went to live with her.

In the middle of all this, Mama got Chloe. She was only supposed to look after her a little while, but Chloe's owner never came back, so Mama kept this little kitten, who I now have to share Mama with. *Pout.*

Finally Mama moved out of that awful place to where we live now. It's much better here, but soon we have to move yet again! I really hope we settle down soon!

Don't worry about Smokey, he's happy now, even though I'm sure he misses Mama.

Hope to hear from you all soon, and as soon as she gets her pictures in, Chloe will have a page of her own.

Stay tuned!

Love, Whiskers.
