she is the disciplinarian of the house
When Zack was a couple of years old, we decided to adopt Kira as a companion for him, since we worked long hours. They bonded instantly, and to this day, 14 females later, she is the only one of the girls that he is really close to.
When Kira first came, she had to spend 3 weeks in our guest bathroom, because she had a terrible upper respiratory infection, and an eye infection. She would just glare at me when I came to give her the medicines. I was convinced that she blamed me for how bad she felt.
I may have been right, because for the first few years, she was unaffectionate and distant. Then one day, out of nowhere, she decided she loved us! Her only bad habit is, when she is happy, she bites and nips continuously at your hands and fingers. This is how is she got the nick-name of "Annoink Kitty", which comes from "annoying kitty."
As other cats were added to the household, Kira's role began to become evident. She would discipline them, and correct them. If someone picks a fight, she would go over and box their ears or give them a swat! We call her the Narc, because she is also the tattletale, who alerts us to any "mis-deeds" by the other cats. She will "point out" any problem areas by going there and meowing until she has my attention. Once I walked in, carrying groceries, and saw a "puddle" on the floor. I tossed some paper towels down, and went to put away the groceries. When I returned, Kira was dragging the paper towel, with her paw, over to cover a spot I had not seen. That's my girl. She hated the camera, and I regret we had so few pictures. She gradually slowed down in her later years and passed away peacefully as I held her. We have her ashes in a big vase that we put all our Angel's ashes in. She'll always be with us~
