Likes:
Ginger loves to play! She can't resist anything that moves - toys, string, her sister's tail... She loves to be outside. She also loves to be petted.

Pet-Peeves:
She does not like to be ignored and will meow until she gets what she wants which is usually some petting. She also hates to be kept indoors. We recently moved and I had to keep her inside for a couple weeks. Boy, was she mad!

Favorite Toy:
her rubber ball, and my hands. I have the scratches to prove it!

Favorite Nap Spot:
Under the bed

Favorite Food:
hard food and Purina wet food - Mixed Grill and Chicken and tuna dinner only

Skills:
Ginger is incredibly fast and agile. She has bionic jumping skills and can scale fences ten times her height. She's also a skilled hunter. Our property is rodent-free.

Dwells:
indoors

Arrival Story:
Ginger was one of several feral cats living in our neighborhood in 2006. She would come for the food and water I set out and very slowly let me pet her. Even though she was very timid, you could tell she was a very sweet cat. Ginger got pregnant before we could catch her and have her fixed. She gave birth outside and the next day I was able to find the litter because I heard a kitten meowing loudly from the ivy across the street. The litter turned out to be a single kitten. We looked everywhere for more babies, but none were found. We put the kitten and Ginger in the house, despite her objections. It was immediately apparent that Ginger was very sick two days after giving birth. I took her to the vet who said she needed emergency surgery as her uterus was filling up with poisonous goo (that's the explanation in layman's terms). $700 later I had a new cat! Ginger is doing well and her kitten was adopted by my cousin and his wife.

Bio:
Ginger is the most affectionate cat I've ever had. It's hard to believe she was feral. She is afraid of strangers, which is the only evidence of her background. She comes when I call her and even likes to be picked up. She frequently flops to the ground and does the cute kitty roll. It's hard to resist. She used to be a mostly outdoor kitty, but now she prefers to be indoors. We moved to a great big house with an upstairs April 2009 and she loves it! Also in May she got lost for three days. We found her across the street on a neighbor's roof. Ever since then she won't stay outside for very long unless someone is outside with her - which is fine by me!!

Extra info:
Ginger is turning out to be an excellent hunter. One time she brought a live baby rat in the house. After a lot of effort, we put the rat outside, alive. Though I think Ginger got it in the end.

her name:
Ginger did not have a name for the longest time. We just referred to her as "No-Tail Kitty". When I realized I would have to probably take her to the vet sometime to have her fixed I figured I better give her a name. I know "ginger kitties" are orange and Ginger definitely is not orange. We chose her name because of the way she moved - very gingerly. She was a major scaredy cat when we first met.

I have been tagged by my friend Jobel for the 4 x 4 game! There are four questions needing four answers:

4 jobs that I've had:
1. Construction - Building "pyramids" all over the yard
2. Hunter - I specialize in rats and small birds
3. Alarm clock - I make sure mom doesn't oversleep
4. Heater - I like to sleep in between mom's legs to keep her warm. Sometimes I even try to get under the covers.

4 places I have lived:
1. The Streets
2. Hollywood Park (a neighborhood in Sacramento)
3. Rosemont (another neighborhood in Sacramento
4.

4 places where I have been:
1. in a tree
2. on the roof of my house
3. at the vet's
4. on top of the neighbor's roof

4 places I'd rather be:
1. snuggling with my hooman
2. sleeping on the top of my cat tree
3. outside chasing mice
4. In the shower (only if there's still water in it)

Let's see, who should I tag?????

1. Mr. Roarke (805362)
2. Scarlett
3.
4.

Have fun!!

Big Storm and I Caught another Rat!

One thing to know about me is that I like to be outside during the day, no matter what the weather. Early Friday morning a huge rain storm came to town with 75 mph winds. I still wanted out and meowed and meowed until my slave opened the door for me. It rained and rained until the backyard and the street was flooded. My human called for me throughout the day, but I was hunkered down in a dry place, just where, I'll never tell. When I was good and ready, I came back. I'm not one of those pampered indoor cats. That's just not me.

This morning I meowed until someone let me out because I was in the mood to hunt. I surprised my human by bringing a rat to the back porch. Well, just the back half of the rat. I'm sure she was happy with my gift.
