Arrival Story:
There are some ferals outside that I care for, and have been trying to get into a TNR program in my neighborhood. One night Zelda appeared, and unlike the ferals, she was meowing at me. When I called to her, she came up to me, and when I gave her some food and affection, she started purring and rubbing all over me, and was just the sweetest thing! That's when I saw that someone had apparently hit her in the face, and her nose was swollen and a little bloody. Whatever/whoever hit her, it really hit her hard. I suspect she may have been kicked, possibly kicked repeatedly. Seeing what someone/something had done to her, and all she had been through, I just felt so bad for her, and I wanted to try and help her heal and learn to trust again.
Bio:
I have no idea what age cat Zelda might be. I just guessed and put her age down as 5 years old. She could be younger or older, but is probably younger. Zelda has been spayed now, and had her nose injuries looked at. It is going to take a while to heal, but we are taking good care of her, and looking after her. It is already looking a LOT better, and the fur is growing back on the bridge, but the end of her nose is still very red and scraped. She's been to the vet, had her check-up, combo test (negative, yay!) and she is now up to date on her immunizations. If I can't find her a wonderful new home, I guess she will be staying here with us. There's no way I'm putting her back out to be abused again. She's settling in here pretty well, all things considered. She has learned that Barney (our dog) isn't going to hurt her, and that the other cats are really just curious about her, they aren't threatening her in any way. She lounges on the sofa, follows me around some, meowing at me occasionally, and purrs loudly when I pet her. She's learning my kids are nice and won't hurt her. By the time she gets adopted, she will probably be a really good cat around children and other animals. She has never raised a paw in aggression to anyone.UPDATE: I finally figured out what Zelda knew all along. She's home already. My husband kept teasing me saying, "why do you keep trying to find her a new home, when you know as well as I do that she's already GOT a home?" He was right. She's home.
