Through A Cat's Eyes

we moved!

Mummy moved to a new apartment this weekend and *ugh* we had to be shut up in a bedroom and then in a bathroom for HOURS while they moved stuff.

I think I like the place. It has a upstairs loft (our old place didn't) and there's a fantastic little nook under the stairs that is just perfect for kitties. :)

She was getting mightily nervous when I was exploring the ledge for the upstairs. But, eh, I'm a cat and can handle these things... (she is however threatening to buy us "feline high-rise syndrome" insurance now... whatever THAT IS).

I do feel like I'll like this place. All my stuff is here and more importantly, mummy's here and is doting on us (although I dare say there was *something* in that tuna she gave us... I just felt so mellow afterwards, wasn't normal at all!)

Anyway, I hope all my furry friends had a wonderful Christmas! Gotta go, I think mummy is gonna unpack some more and I need to go inspect and make sure she's doing it right.

The shelter that rescued me could win $5000!

Yesterday mummy got an email from SAFE Haven for Cats, the no-kill shelter she adopted me from. Their founder, a very sweet lady named Pam Miller, has been nominated as one of Animal Planet's "Cat Heroes of the Year"! If she wins, SAFE Haven would get $5000! WOW! That's a LOT of cans of tuna... Scruffy & I are hoping they win, but really, it's a shame all of 'em can't get $5000 .

I love Cat Heroes - they rock :) They do great things that we can't do for ourselves, and people like Pam & SAFE Haven take us in when we have no where else to live until someone comes along and adopts us and takes us home. I may have been in my furrever home for more than 2 years now but SAFE Haven will always be dear to me.

*excited headbutts*

Pay attention to ME!

You would think that mummy would grasp the concept that she is here to pay attention to me. To provide me with the best food. To lavish me with pets and scritches. To give me tons of treats and scatter cat nip all over the floor. She seems to be falling down on her job.

She was playing that stupid computer game - you know that massive multi-player online role playing game that has the elves, gnomes, dwarfs, humans, trolls, orcs, etc... Well, I had to make her aware that I was in need of attention and kept poking her in the arm...

Now, if she would only stop trying to move me to her right side so she can still get to the keyboard... the arm of the couch is on the left. *rolls eyes* Scruffy sits on her right nursing the pink blanket (which you can see in the new pics I uploaded tonight - sorta).

Of course, I had to prove my point when she stopped playing and be aloof and not let her pet me. These humans *sigh* sometimes they need reminding of who is the top dog, er, cat around these parts!

I look very pretty, if I do say so myself...

Mummy got a Furminator on Friday and has been chasing Scruffy and I around the house brushing us at every turn. Other than it's a bit aggrivating to have her come along and start grooming me when I'm trying to nap, it does feel quite good.

It does look like a cat exploded in the living room though -- even with her picking up the piles of hair and putting them in the garbage enough gets off that there's a layer of fur on EVERYTHING. Well, grandmummy loaned mummy an extra rainbow vacuum so she's gonna suck all the excess fur up tomorrow afternoon.

Given I've never been one who wants to have my belly rubbed so she's not been able to brush my tummy. She has managed to get my breast-area a few times before I get irritated and run off.

But she's had even less luck with Scruffy. He keeps thinking it's a game and only the times he comes over and curls up to "nurse" on the blanket can she get a good brushing in.

All said, it's amazing what she's managed to get off both of us. Once the initial brushing is complete it'll just be maintenance.

But man alive, I'd never have thought a specific type of brush would've been that much better than any old brush you'd pick up... well, know I know.

And my, does my coat look shiny :)

Since I was tagged...

Rascal tagged me:

"You write 7 random things about yourself in your diary and then choose 7 other kitties to tag. Send them a pawmail so they know what to do. And we all get to learn a little more about each other."

1) I love Taco Bell tacos – they are SO yummy!!! But no one will ever give me one – I have to steal them from out from under the human’s noses

2) Thunderstorms frighten me – I go run and hide and don’t come out until it’s long past!

3) I had a litter of kittens when I was really young. That’s why I’m so tiny now. But the folks at Safe Haven fixed me so I won’t have any more kittens – and that’s fine by me!

4) I can stand on my hind legs – you know how the “I made you a cookie but I eated it” cat does. I can do that. Mostly when I want a Temptations treat.

5) There have been times I have fallen off the arm of the couch while someone is petting me. It’s really not an elegant thing for a cat to do, but *man* petting feels SO GOOD!

6) From time to time I enjoy a good bit of catnip… but it’s rare that I end up laying in the middle of a patch licking it off the floor in a stoned state. OK, so it’s not THAT rare.

7) I can open cabinets and drawers. The other day I managed to open the drawer on the bathroom sink and wiggled down underneath the sink into the cabinet below and then came out from below. And the kitchen cabinets aren’t safe either!

And I tag: ♥Kiowa♥, Blackjack, Pixel T. Firewire, Catsy, Cleopatra, Rocky Ann, & Darcy and Lizzie

I got some kitty milk for breakfast and for lunch Mummy gave me and Scruffy some canned food... and she's got something planned for dinner... I've had SO much treats today I'm stuffed, though... but maybe in a few hours I can eat whatever the surprise is.

I 'spose now that I'm 5 I have to act like an adult, but I still like playing with my toys and stuff... I really like the new laser pointer. :)

He's pretty cool, y'know

I've decided, Scruffy is pretty darn cool. He's got a really nice mew and he's so laid back in lounging around in a sunny spot on the carpet, the middle of the kitchen floor or curled up on the back of the couch. I wish Mummy had a camera to take a picture of us -- he's actually giving himself a bath not 2 feet from me. He's also been following mum to the bathroom and she keeps asking him if he's a "water kitty" (did you know there are cats that LIKE the bathtub? I didn't either!).

Plus, both mummy and me think that having a big guy around in a household of girls is a good thing (well, there is the fish, but he just swims around in circles).

And I do NOT like the landscaping people. They spent all afternoon mowing and weedwacking. It was so nice outside and mummy had the patio door open and usually I sit there and look at the critters in the creek (with my new pal) but we were both so spooked that he ran to hide in the bedroom and I ran to the kitchen and the safety of the top of the cabinets. The maintenance guys are coming soon to fix a few things mummy found that need fixing... but hopefully she'll be home when they do come by. AND tomorrow the cable guy is coming to install the DVR :/

But at least I'll have a good visitor on Thursday. Miss C is going to come hang out and she's not scary at all. I just don't like strangers :( And men making loud noises are the worst!

Mummy says he's younger than me but he's much bigger than- me!

Mummy brought home Scruffy to see if we get along. I'm still not sure about him, but he seems playful - he had fun playing with my ball in a plastic ring and I saw the catnip ball that "Auntie C" gave me was out too. I think he's scared though. I was scared when I came home with Mummy. Everything's all new and strange - which is both fun cuz you get to explore, but scary cuz it's not what you're used to. He is eating and drinking and he's come up the couple times Mummy's shaken the treat bag. I think once he settles in a bit more I'll have a fun napping and playmate.

Mummy gave me a homemade catnip pillow today. :) I've been having fun attacking it and rubbing all on it. Maybe she'll make me more if she can find some good catnip again.

One of mummy's friends came over today and I had to go hide for a bit. But I did eventually come out. She's a nice person and gave me a catnip ball as a moving prezzie. I still wouldn't do my standing pose, even with treats being offered. Mummy said she's never going to get a picture of me doing that cuz I never do it when anyone else but her is here, and I only stand when I want a treat from her, so she can't take it.

PLUS, it was finally warm enough for mummy to open the patio door. I had a wonderful afternoon of looking out at the bugs and critters outside (there's a creek running behind our home). I wish sometimes I could go out.

A lazy day

My mummy had a migraine today so we got to curl up and nap all day. I like being able to snuggle up next to mummy all day. It was cool and rainy all day so having someone to curl up with and keep warm was nice - since there was no sunny patches. She says I always make her feel better when she's sick.

And humans do the strangest things. Often when mummy has a headache she takes a hot bath. That's just STRANGE to sit in a bunch of water. I don't get it - don't they know water is only for fish!

Then tonight she was on the computer and talking with a friend and she sent her a youtube video of a meowing cat... I had to come up and investigate it. She said it reminded her of the time the kitty she lived with before me went running around the house trying to find the strange cat when her phone had a meowing ringtone.

I think I'm ready to curl up in bed again and get some more pets. I just can't get enough of mummy. :) I'm glad she adopted me.
