I liked Lucerne Valley once I got used to the quiet.
Even in Mulberry, Arkansas there were lots of noises from the woods at night.
But all we heard in the desert were a few coyotes.
It was neat watching the kangeroo mice. I was too old & somewhat arthritic in Lucerne Valley to hunt.
It was a good place for an 0ld cat. The neighbors were nice. Even the local dogs were used to cats & did not chase us.
Ginger & Pepper came to us quite young, only 9 weeks old, so were easy for an elderly cat to get along with. Especially Ginger. Though, in some ways, he was more like a dog then a cat.
I spent most of my time watching events by then. The 2 horses next door were nice. It was sad when the parade horse got stolen. She was a sweet mare.
ComSa tried to alert people, but even Mom slept through it. After working 16 hour days at the cafe, she was pretty tired when she got home.
I didn't like her cactus. Never saw them shoot thorns like her father claimed, but she did have to pry one out of my left fore paw once.. Man, that hurt.
I watched Ginger & Pepper's fight over the Calico cat. Ginger was pretty fast.
Pepper was sure a sore loser though, even growled at me, Mom & her father afterwards. Her father just laughed. He was good with animals.
I remember sleeping on the side of Mom's bed one last time.
I woke up here on the Rainbow Bridge. Guess she found me there when she woke.
I have no complaints. I had a pretty good life, & saw more of the USA then most cats.
I've met animals in 3 different areas of the country.
Squirrels on the west coast are smaller then the ones in Arkansas, which are even red instead of grey. Yet the foxes were smaller & sassier.

In 1964, when I was 7, Mom's dad bought a place in Arkansas.
I had to ride in the back seat. They put a harness on me & tied me to the seat.
Mom says I had the first kitty seat belt. Ha. Didn't care much for it.
we stopped 4 times a day so Buster, Teddy & I could take care of the biz, as her dad called it.
It took 4 days to get there.
I was a city boy, never saw so many trees.
Same for Buster. Teddy had been raised on a farm for the first few months of his life, so he told us what trees were.
Buster did not live much longer. He killed a tarantula, & it bit him.
He died in a lot of pain. He did save Teddy & I. We also learned not to try to kill the snakes & bugs in Arkansas. Lots of critters there were poisonous.
We lived there for 4 years. We met Ebony Bast, Mama Kitty & Tiger Tom before long. Bachelor was brought from a neighbor not long after Buster died. Boy was it obvieous that he was Buster's kid.

My name is Blue. I'm told it's because I look blue in certain lights.
My first story will be of my arrival in Mom's life.
I was born in a cattery. I was kept there till & was 8 weeks old. I don't remember this. I heard the pet store owner tell Mom.
She paid $5 for me. They said I was off color. I also had some white hairs on one leg. Big no no for show cats, so I was sold in a lot to the pet store.
That's okay, Mom said that show cats have to be in cages & get handled by strangers. Don't think I'd care for that.
She lived in a house in Reseda, Ca. It had a big back yard. I was the only cat who lived there on a regular basis. Tabby stayed for a month or 2, but she kept going to other places for food. No idea why, we always had food.
The lady across the street wanted her. Claimed the Pribbles could not be feeding her. HA, we always had food down in a big bowl. Tabby was just moocher.
should have seen the woman's face when she found out the little gray tuxy minx had 6 kittens, but she took them.
She also found out that Tabby had 4 other places she ate at.
That's the arrival story. I'll tell another later.
