Well I did have to go back to the vet. If it was just an infection the antibiotics and the swelling going down should have meant I could walk again. So off I went. That was fun. They caught me off-guard the first time they put me in a carrier; but the second time around I knew what it was for! I didn't hiss or scratch or bite, but I did flail about frantically enough to foil 2 attempts and I got so scared I wet my little kitty pants a bit. But through all the drama we got there!
Good news! My leg still didn't seem to be broken at all, no need for x-rays. Bad news- they picked at my scabs that had been falling off and found out I had a big laceration almost completely around my leg, meaning that was probably what originally caused me to limp and then someone (cough, Chibi, cough) must have taken advantage of my disability and given me the bites which caued massive swelling and covered up the real problem. The laceration likely caused some major nerve damage, which is why it still hurts to put weight on my paw. They've put me on some pain medications and we'll see if I walk better after a week or so on them. Then if they work I'll taper off and see if I can keep walking without them. More good news is that since I can still knead my paw very well and I can hold it up out of the way when I limp there is very little chance that I'll need an amputation and eventually I should get back to walking on all fours without medication and then I can go back out. Crossing our paws!
In unrelated news- my people like me too much! They pet me and pet me, and they love my purr. Tonight I was purring with a super high, almost musical trill and it inspired them to adlib the following "song"-
"Twinkle, twinkle, little Jiggles-
You're so cute you give us giggles.
Li'l black whiskers on your face-
They look a tad bit out of place.
We love him, he's such a good boy!
He's our pride and "Almond" joy!"
Seriously. Humans do the funniest things.
