We Had a Scary Visitor

A couple of days ago our trash can and our bird seed can were carried off down the hill in the middle of the night. Dad thought it was a bear but mom wasn't sure about that because we haven't ever seen a bear here.

Well Dad was right (as usual) Mom was sitting here on Catster last night giving out a few final Pirate Flags and right outside the window where she was sitting she heard some noises. It was dark but when she looked out there was this BIG Bear dragging our bird seed can off again! now when i say big i mean about 3 feet tall at the shoulder with a huge head (full of sharp teeth i'm sure). The window mom was looking out was about 4 ft off the ground so that ole' bear was a little below her but it scared her let me tell you.

She had all the windows and the glass doors open because it has been so wonderfully cool here at night. She ran and slammed all the windows down and shut the glass doors. We had all been snoozing so none of us were out on the screened porch and mom was soooo glad about that. Dad said he is going to call the forestry people and they will come get that bear and take him way out in the woods. Shoot, we all thought we were way out in the woods LOL. Until they catch him everything will be closed up before dark. Now we'll be on the lookout ~ just to be sure he doesn't decide to come in the house and get our cat food. ON Guard ~ Tony the Sentry

Lions and Tigers and Bears....Oh my!

How scarey that had to be. Glad your Mom got all the windows and doors shut before that big bad bear came in and stole your food.

Holy Cat Batman! We asked Mom where do they live that they would have such a visitor. So Mom looked. Mom has been through your city before. See Mom and Dad like to go to Gatlinburg in the fall. It is so beautiful there. They also hit the stores and go cart tracks in Pigeon Forge too.
Anyway, they usually drive up your way to hit I 40 so they can go to The Biltmore House on the way home.

I can't believe it! We are neighbors!

SOOO Glad that we only have coons, possums, deer and wild turkeys to 'worry' about!
Though we did have bear a couple of times in town, about 8 miles from our house in the rural areas...I think the bear was a tad mixed up, MOL!
A few years ago, there was talk of a possible cougar sighting around here, but it was nevfur confirmed.

Tony ya gotta be careful, if that had been my momcat she probably would have had a heart attack, when I was on earth one time we lived out in the country and a bunch of cows got loose from the farm down the road, well they came into our yard and momcat called the sherriff, they laughed and called the owner, momcat told them it was not funny one bit, she closed all the blinds and made me stay in the living room with her and dadcat, she was so silly, when it comes to her furbabies she will stop at nothing to protect us, I will cruise by tonight in my Hummer and see if the Angels and I can scare that ole black bear off, Sonny starts laughing runs to tell all the Angels~

Woohoo! Bears! Cool! Maybe you will get to have a big old bear catchin trap in your yard. Mr. Bear goes in, the trap door shuts, and then the peeples come and hitch the trap up to a truck and take him for a ride. That big old bear is probly REAL hungry cuz he is gettin ready to go sleepy bye for the winter, and he needs lotsa food before he goes to sleep.

Oh boy, Tony! What a skeery thing fur ur mommy! Dood, I know's u gonna keep good watch cat ofur ur furmilies! Dem Forest Ranger doods know what to does wif 'em BIG Hairy teeth jugglin' Bears! Dey not need to be's close, dey belong way way in da woods! MOL! We only haz coyotes 'n field rats 'n micey's 'n snakes out in back our woods, but progress is slowly takin' da away too. We libb's mostly in concrete here!

Mr. Bear came back last night. he comes at the same time every night. but there was no food for him so he just ambled off. mom made sure everyfur was inside and all the doors and windows closed before dark though. we'll all be on the lookout from INSIDE the house tonight! purrs

Hey Simon, it's great to see you Pal, well that ole bear came back again one night when mom went out to bring in the bird feeders. it just about scared her out of her shoes he was so close. she learned she can walk backwards real fast too LOL.

we didn't see him after that so we think he is taking his winter nap ~ we'll see if he comes to visit this year.
