Orange & White Tabby

Sleeping, cuddling and eating.

The vacuum, the other cats making him wrestle when he wants to sleep and of course, the dreaded Vet.

Favorite Toy:
Anything with catnip and whatever wee creatures he can catch.

Favorite Nap Spot:

Favorite Food:
Keebler is a gourmet, he loves to taste new things. Various types of cheese especially please him.

He is very talkative and is quite the dramatist when trying to get samples of human food. He will wail so pitifully that you'd swear he was starving - if his ample butt and belly didn't sabotage his performance.

Arrival Story:
I'd wanted an orange cat to add to my crew and got an e-mail from Best Friends letting me know that a lady in Morrow, OH had rescued a bunch of kitties from a golf course and was trying to find them forever homes. I contacted her and found out that she did have two orange and white kittens, but that they would have to go as a pair. I really only wanted one, but I finally agreed to take them both. The two cats were brothers named Bailey and Keebler. Bailey was white and orange and Keebler was orange and white. They couldn't have been more different in character, nothing bothered Bailey, while poor little Keebler worried about everything. Keebler was a timid little guy and very reliant on his brother, his rescuer was right to insist that they be placed together. It took a long time before Keebler came to trust me, but now he is a happy little guy. The look of total ecstacy he will get on his face when he is being petted would make a good visual definition of the word. He is a such a little doll, I can't imaging life without him.

Keebler is a gentle, timid soul who has been through a lot - being taken from the golf course, then adopted out, later he was hit by a car dislocating his hip (that was a terrible ordeal, but he recovered completely). Fate always seems to have looked out for the little guy though, I think it is because Keebler had a special destiny. He was destine to save another little kitty in need. It was Keebler who adopted a sad little dumped kitten and convinced him to become part of our family. He and Gus are still best buddies and Gus has been a great comfort to Keebler after losing his brother Bailey to kidney disease. It's ironic that from such a timid start Keebler has turned out to be such a character, very talkative, with a love of food and symmetry - if you stroke one side you must give equal strokes to his other side and he will roll back and forth to make sure that a petting symmetry is maintained. He is quite the little butterball, being both plump and having a stocky torso attached to short legs. When petted he will roll and roll and make happy grunts, purrs, chirps and trills and have a look on his face of total joy. What a wonderful bonus he turned out to be.

My First Bunny!

I caught my first bunny last night!!! I feel like a true tiger - fierce and wild grrr.

For so long I've tried to catch the wild bunnies that roam around here, but the rascals always eluded me. They teased me too, letting me chase them without ever having the satisfaction of a catch. Oh they made me mad.

It only added insult to injury that some of my fellow cats who are faster and bigger did catch bunnies from time to time. Did they share - NO! They just trotted around showing off their trophy for all us unsuccessful hunters to envy.

Well last night was finally MY NIGHT!!! I finally a caught a bunny of my own, and I got to trot around showing off to the other cats, growling fiercely while the bunny squealed and wiggled in my mouth. Fortunately although my Mom feels sorry for the bunnies (she's such a softie) she understands that this is an important milestone in a cat's life. I got much praise and many extra pets, which is nothing more than what I deserve because catching bunnies is hard work. I know Mom must rest better knowing her garden now has an additional guardian, I just dare the bunnies to conduct a raid - they'll answer to my sharp teeth and claws, grrrrr. My next goal is to get one of those snotty squirrels who dance under the bird feeder. Look out squirrels, the mighty Keebler has his eye on you grrrrrrrr.

The rules of the game:

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Cats who are tagged need to write in their diary about the seven facts and the rules. You choose seven cats to tag and list their names. Don't forget to send them pawmail so they know they've been tagged and should read your diary.

Seven Random Facts:

1. I am a gourmet.

2. I am a great actor and give Oscar worthy performances when I want to share what the humans are eating.

3. Rumors to the contrary, I'm not fat, just big boned and pleasingly plump.

4. I'm a lover, not a fighter.

5. I adopted a kitten, my dear Gus, and raised him to be a fine, upstanding cat.

6. My favorite summer nap spot is in front of the house behind the rose bush - I can bask in the morning sun and keep an eye on things.

7. I am a mighty hunter specializing in toads.

Here are the 7 kitties I've tagged:
