A Kitty of Valor
(from Proverbs 31)
A kitty of valor, who can find? Her value is far beyond pearls.
Her husband's heart relies on her and he shall lack no fortune.
She does him good and not evil, all the days of her nine lives.
She seeks mice and catnip, and works with her paws willingly.
She is like the merchant ships, she brings fresh fish from afar.
She arises while it is still night, and gives mice to her kittens and a portion to her humans.
She plans for a catnip field, and buys it. With the fruit of her paws she plants catnip.
She girds her loins in strength, and makes her arms strong.
She knows that her mouse hunting is good. She does not go out at night
She sets her paws to the distaff, and holds the spindle in her paws.
She extends her paws to the poor, and reaches out her paw to the needy.
She fears not for her household because of snow, because her whole household is warmly dressed in fur.
She kneads covers for herself, her fur is shiny and well groomed.
Her husband is known at the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.
She makes a catnip toy and sells it, and she delivers her works to the merchant.
Strength and honor are her clothing; she purrs at the future.
She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the lesson of kindness is in her meows.
She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the cat food of idleness.
Her kittens rise and praise her; her husband lauds her.
Many kitties have done worthily, but you surpass them all.
Charm is deceptive and beauty is vain, but a kitty who fears God shall be praised.
Give her of the catnip of her paws, and let her works praise her in the gates.

Ah yes! My favorite time of the day. It gets a bit hectic around here with 3 of us kitties and a D-O-G. It has taken a while, but after many long months of effort I have finally trained my mommy to have protected Ginger Time each night. at about 8 p.m. I come to the bedroom door and meow for her. She must drop what she is doing and come running. Of course she must come to the bedroom and close the door, effectively locking everyone else out. Then I've got her all to myself. For the next glorious 1/2 hour it is all about me. I get massaged and petted and told how beautiful I am (hey- a girl needs to hear these things). After about a 1/2 hour I must stop because she kisses me and gets my fur all messed up. Then I have to groom myself again! I just love this...like I said, it has been a long process but persistence pays off! I wonder what I should teach her next!

Today I am very sad. My darling sister, my best frend, has been very sick this past week. I so wanted her to be here for my birthday and she fought so bravely. DB indeed was here yesterday to give me my gifts and spend some time with me. She walked a few steps and we cuddled and we had a celebration in which she took part. We had a chance to tell each other how much it meant that we are sisters. At about 8:00 p.m., she took a turn for the worst and we thought we would lose her then, but she hung on...she did not want to spoil my birthday by dying just then. She was more worried about me than herself. That is just what a good sister she has been to me.
She hung on until 4:20 today (a day after my birthday) and then was carried to the Bridge in the arms of Buster, who went there in April. I know that she has missed him terribly and will be safe and happy with him.
I will not remember this as the year that DB died...I will remember it as the year that she bravely lived to be here for me just one more time. Rest in peace, dear sister...I love you so much.
